I've been looking for a lense I inteded to buy for sometime but didn't have the motivation for it. I found one on ebay which almost ending auction. When I checked the bidders' history, I found a couple of them cleaning the house. It appeared liek they were buing anything Minolta, even duplicates of the same lenses.

The auctions I've folowed ended with $432 for 100-400mm APO ($750 new) and $316 for a 2X II APO TC ($370 new). All this happened in the last 10 seconds. 100-400mm jumped from $335, TC from $167.50.

Somebody(s) is(are) speculating on Minolta lenses and I hope they will end up with lots of interesting looking paper weights. ;)

I don't get your post.

Its a lens, and the buy it now price is pretty good. Cheaper then buying it new.

Many older, used, Minolta lenses go for brand-new version, latest version, prices.

I thought 1.7 = 49mm Filter, 1.4 = 55mm filter.
He is showing 49mm filter for an f1.4 lens!

If I decide to go another route then Sinolta, how do I ensure getting rediculous prices for my old lenses? Make selling the new digital idea to SWMBO easier, LOL

The old style 50/1.4 takes 49mm filters. The 50/1.4RS has 55mm filter threads.

that the high end selling ,arket of these lens was over. Neither of these has sold. I felt this also since the announcement of new things to come by 2 other sources.

I think/hope prices will return to normal now.

are you confusing the 50mm 1.7 with the 50mm 1.4? those prices are 'normal' for the 1.4

I don't think that a new DSLR camera release from Sony will bring lens prices back down. Look what the 7D and 5D did to the market. Add an even better (or different or more popular) camera in there and demand is going up, not down. Plus, with the announcement, fewer people will be selling off their KM glass.

Supply goes down, demand goes up.

Maybe with new lens releases there will be some calming, but even still...they can't replace the entire range, and some of these older lenses are good glass, and there is always demand for good glass.

Cheers,
Damian

... I own this lense by myself (amongst other Minolta's) and it was the reason to get a KM5D body for it. The lense I own is superb, the body I however did sell again, but I will wait for a 9D.

I bought mine on e bay for less than 100 € . Its worth every penny I payed ! Its even sharp @ f1.4 !! you just have to focus very good !

I have the older 49mm version with the straight blades but the bokeh likes fine to me
