Hold the "Play/Pause" button down for about 5 seconds.

Only my opinion. It's worth what you paid for it. Your mileage may vary! ;-}

Many Thanks
So easy when you know.

Did not see how in the instruction leaflet and was just about to dash out so did not want to experiment.
thanks again

Charles, I also just bought the iPod Video (30 gig) this last Friday. I absolutely love it and even though I am a very long time Mac user this is my very first iPod.

As far as turning it off, don't worry about it. The devise turns itself off after a bit of non use.

Something I did not realize is that the iPod can be used like a PDA of sorts besides storing Music, Photos and videos.

I have just bought my first i pod. have chrged it, loaded music.
Sounds great.

Silly question but how do I turn it off

So what you're saying is that Apple's good job of marketing and creating a successful pay-per-song service is a con? Sounds like great business skills to me...

i'm on iPod #4. i've had a 1G 5GB, a 3G 20GB, a 4G 40GB and a video iPod 60GB. They are amazing devices that have evolved a great deal.

I agree. I have downloaded a couple of video podcasts and am very impressed with the apparent resolution on the small screen.

I have just had a "i pod integration kit" installed in the car and can now listen to all my tracks on the car radio - great

I just purchased an iPod2Car kit which hardwires an iPod to your factory installed radio/CD changer. I tried several of the FM modulators ( $49 ) and the sound quality was poor. The hardwired one http://peripheralelectronics.com was $199 installed at BestBuy. Check the application guide for vehicle compatability.

While not the only reason that I switched, the iPod's halo effect definitely helped move me towards a Mac. My iPod updates are faster, and the machine has only been restarted for software installs that require it, not a crash to be found.

Actually, though the original poster probably meant what you said, they inadvertantly heaped praise on the iPod.

For you see, an "iCon" or icon is a universal symbol for something. For Mp3 players, the universal shape, form and name is indeed the iPod.

So, yes the iPod is the "iCon", as it is what people mean when they say "MP3 player". It's a mark of the fantastic success it has had.

I'd like to know where the intent of the iCON fell....if he meant to emphasize CON as in a negative way, or if he meant "icon", which would most likely be positive....with the way it was capitalized, I assumed the poster meant it in the most negative way. Care to clear this up for us?
