Bad weather shot is not always bad, right? How do you think about this picture (taken with a Canon S10)? Thanks for any input in advance!

Beautiful composition, excellent shot! It might benefit from moderate, selective, sharpening in the foreground.

I love the color, the contrast, and the composition. There's nothing left to dislike :-). Very nice.

OK, I'll bite - is everyone being funny, or was the picture actually viewable? At 18:40 EST, all I get it is a ' Picture not found' image.

I noticed the original URL was unavailable for a while. For case, the same picture again:

Julia,

This is an incredible shot. The shape of the tracks, the red building, the man all in black all combine to make a classic composition. You should be very proud of this one.

This picture is the best I've seen in ages.

It almost looks like it's painted, so perfectly composed, like you had all the time and imagination to set this scene up, like a painter would. Do you have a bigger version of this?

Hi julia,

Well I don't think I ever saw one of your photographs before. Well You might have posted some and I might not have looked, or well I did overlook your photographs.

But this one is one of the finest compositions I ever saw and I don't write things I don't mean

Just one question, did you use USM on this or not ?

Somehow I get the idea it's just a bit overworked in PS or a like. But I can be totaly wrong.

In case you did use USM would you mind posting an URL of the original, only resized photograph, as I think that will be great too, no even might be better, well all in my eyes ofcourse.

Keep shooting and posting, just like to see more of these, or even of less quality as that still will be great,

jacques

I'm impressed by your understanding of my photo, more from the artistic aspects than the technical aspects which I know very little ("USM", what's that?) and don't care very much.

So far, I have mainly posted my photos to web sites specially designed for photo sharing and critique like http://www.photo.net . Because of my positive first experience in this forum, I'll try to find time showing some other photos of mine which may interest you in future.
Cheers!
Julia

I think the weather and colors set the mood. I love it! The rails in the ground guide the viewer through the image. I'd love to see more!

Hi Julia,

From the time I first saw this photograph I knew it deserved a comment from me. Unfortunately, when I later had the time for commenting it had slipped my memory. Seeing your comment in my photograph, and looking at your poster's profile, brought it to mind once again.

Julia, I sincerely understand in my deepest heart that this is a wonderful photograph. It has mood, atmosphere, depth, and a touch of surreality. Not to mentiion that it is very well composed, very well seen.

Any camera can do this, any eye cannot.

Do you have more of these in you? Seeing that you were able to do this, I know that you certainly must.

The best photographs are taken in weather that the skin doesn't like...

My very deepest regards,

Ed

Julia,

I have to echo what others have said...this shot looks like it was taken from the vantage point of a painter on a street corner...it is wonderfully composed, with multiple elements coming together in a very lyrical fashion. Your recent work posted on this forum is a real breath of fresh air, and I look forward to much more.

Regards,

Robert
