But not relegating my E-10s to 2nd class.
Why the E-300 and not the E-1 or the E-500?
The number one concern was, of course, price. I have limited discretionary income so this was an issue.
I've been using "grips" for as long as I can recall. While cametaauctions did not have the HLD-3, I was able to get one from B&H at a reasonable price.
In order to get the E-1, SHLD and the 14-54 I'd have to spend nearly double what I paid for the E-300 2 lens kit and the HLD-3.
I've been continually impressed with the images posted here by many E-300 users using both the "kit" lenses and other Olympus offerings. (I'd name these posters but I'm afraid I'd leave someone out... You're all great!)
A good friend of mine bought an E-300 about a year ago and was able to get the OM converter at no cost. He also has access to a few OM lenses. He's said that I can borrow the adapter and he also has access to a few OM lenses. I'm most interested in using the 28mm lens with the adapter.
When I first looked at the E-300 I thought that it would make a great street camera utilizing a "wide" lens. This is my goal.
I'm also interested in seeing the capabilities of the 40-150. While I don't shoot much "wildlife" the results I've seen here are very good and I may give wildlife photography a shot. I realize that this lens may not be long enough but it's a bit longer than I already own.
I'm also looking forward to the 8mm Fisheye. I almost purchased the Raynox FE-180 for my E-10 but the cost of that converter was a bit too high. I opted, instead, to upgrade to the E-300 and do some serious saving for the 8mm lens.
As there's a holiday this week (President's Day in the US) and shipping won't occur until Tuesday, I expect to see the new gear on Friday 02/24 hopefully.
I've already downloaded the User Guide and have used an E-300 in the past so I'll hopefully have a grasp on the menus by the time it arrives.
BTW, what are "scene modes?"

If you can visualize it, then create it in the camera, finish it off with the print that matches your mind's eye then you are, most likely, a master...
