Does someone use the Lowepro slingshot 200AW bag? Is it good and useful? I mean with a D70, 4 lens, sb-600 and remaining gear inside. Has it room enough (inside) to carry a small tripod of 38cm (15 ")?
Thanks for yr. advice and opinions.

I have the Slingshot 200 and really like the way it works - carrying it like a backpack but being able to slide it around and access the camera without having to take it off.

I have a D70 with kit lens, Sigma 70-300 APO, 50mm 1.8, SB-800, Sekonic L358, assortment of both screw-on and Cokin filter and mount. I also have the charger and cords and D70 manual. It all fits but there really isn't much more room available. A much larger telephoto than the Sigma wouldn't fit well. I could maybe add one more lens - like a wide angle.

I really like the bag. It provides good protection for the equipment and is comfortable to wear (better than a heavy bag hanging on one shoulder).
Hope that helps.

Hi There

I also have the Slingshot 200AW now. I bought it a couple of weeks ago. Of the 3 bags I have (LowePro Nova4, Tamrac Expedition 4, Slingshot) I prefer it the most

I have my D70 with Kit lens attached, 50mmF1.8, 80-200F2.8, Charger, card reader, spare battery + AA batteries various filters, cloths, lens brush etc in the bag. Could probably fit another lens in the bag as well. I have the top section open for my soon to be aquired SB800, and the external pouch contains cloths, and a couple of odds and ends.

I really like the way that the bag can be carried like a backpack, but easily slung around to access the camera - this was a major bugbear with the Tamrac (with a proper backback, you have to find a spot to put the bag down to take camera out etc.

I think that a smallish size tripod could possibly be attached to the side of the bag, as it has a couple of fairly strong tabbed loops attached. Not sure if it would fit inside

Good Luck.

I got the Slingshot 200AW for FREE with my D50/18-70 combo. It's a great bag - very comfortable to wear - although I'm not quite sure how much it will exactly fit (read the previous post). It also comes with a 'hidden raincoat' that can be flipped over the bag. This 'raincoat' is attached in a small pouch in the back so you will always have this with you.

Hopes this helps!

I bought the bag but did not like it because you can't carry a very long lens while attached to the D70. The width of the bag is the limiting factor, unless you take out all the dividers and put the lens/D70 in vertically, but then you lose the storage space.

However, if you have several short lens (

Hi,

I use the AW200 with a d70s, 18-70 kitlens, 70-300 ED, 50 1.8, Tokina 12-24. Thats fine, but full. Perhaps I could fit in a strobe, but I'm not sure bout that. Especially the large hood of the Tokina gives me some troubles sometimes.

With the lenses I have, the d70 fits in with any of the lenses attached to it, but with the 70-300 it's quite tight.

The usability and carrying comfort is very good, did some hikes for 4+ hours and it was fine.

In case I take my Manfrotto 190 tripod with me I carry that one with an extra strap over my shoulder. Not perfect but works for me.

I have my d70 with the 70-200vr attached and it fit snug but not impossible. I exclusively use this bag when I have this setup. Otherwise, I use a Tamrac Velocity 5 when I have my kit lens attached.

Boas Rui. :)

Go to the store..and borrow it for a few days. That way you can pack it and carry it around. Just be sure the store will take it back. If they are reputable..they will. Just be sure to leave the tags on it.

Bags are tricky to buy. It has to hold what you want..and be comfortable. Only way to be sure is to try them.
I have slingshot 100 for everyday

and Tamrac expedition 5 for days I want more equipment (and it makes great storage bag for my equipment at home.)

Thank you guys! Despite the positive opinions I'll study the matter carefully again as it seems that buying it I'd have to leave the tripod home. Any other suggestions on a confortable shoulder bag not bulky allowing the transport of all the detailed gear will be nice. Thanks again to all of you!

Can the slingshot 200 AW accomodate the D70 WITH the 80-200 f/2.8 attached. That one central area looks like you can simply pull out that velcro divider and it looks like it has enough room there to leave that long lens mounted. Can you confirm that, I really want a sling bag that will allow me to keep the longer lens attached, I have a velocity 7 now and love the sling style but its VERY tight with the long lens on and then there is little room for anything else.
Thanks, Ted

Ted, I don't have the bag with me right now but it will hold the D70S with the kit lens with lens hood attached in the center section with the small cross divider removed. I would guess that to be about 5-6 inches of lens length. I'm guessing the 80-200 is about 8 inches long - if so, I'm guessing it may not fit. I'll try remember to check when I get home this evening.

Hi Ted

I have tried this, and I would be very happy myself if it did work (as I use the D70 with the 80-200 on it most of the time), unfortunately it is slightly too long. The D70 + 80-200 attached (without lens hood) measures around 10" 25cm in length from LCD cover to end of lens, the bag itself measures only 8.7" / 22cm wide (interior measurements). It would probably be possible to do it with the camera / lens sitting vertically in the bag as the interior height measurement is 11" / 30cm, however this would take some radical rearranging of the velcro dividers.

I still love the bag though, it is far more convenient than my Tamrac Expedition 4 backpack (I hate having to keep finding places to take the bag off, remove the camera etc - slow and very inconvenient), and it is more comfortable than carrying my Nova 4 shoulder bag. I have one suggestion for LowePro though - It would be very nice if they could figure out some sort of strap mounting arrangement which would permit the shoulder strap to be used on either shoulder - as carrying the weight always on one shoulder is almost as bad as a shoulder bag.

Looking at the bag lying on it's back with the top on your left hand side, I have the top (left) most section of the velcro area (ie: to the left of the attached lens, setup as a tunnel ie: the 80-200 lies on it's side above the attached lens, with a velcro divider keeping it in place against the back of the bag.( a bit complex to explain in words) if you send me your email address I will send you a photo of the divider layout with the equipment in the bag.

Hi, no this is not the right bag.
I'm verry pleased with my bag of Delsey.
It's a backpack (correct??) with much possibillities even a notebook.
Verry nice, good linen, solid.

I also have one Slingshot 200, and would like to know how do you transport your tripods on it. Inside? Or is there any way to attach it outside the bag?

Hi Ted

I have tried this, and I would be very happy myself if it did work
(as I use the D70 with the 80-200 on it most of the time),
unfortunately it is slightly too long. The D70 + 80-200 attached
(without lens hood) measures around 10" 25cm in length from LCD
cover to end of lens, the bag itself measures only 8.7" / 22cm wide
(interior measurements). It would probably be possible to do it
with the camera / lens sitting vertically in the bag as the
interior height measurement is 11" / 30cm, however this would take

Which is what I have done.

I had to move the dividers around in mine to ge the 80-200 to fit, but it works well. I carry this in my lowepro sling

50/1.4
18-70
80-200/2.8
sb-600
D70
mini tripod
manuals for flash and camera

Its a bit heavy but works well for now.

Here is a photo of my partition layout. The 80-200 is on the lower right, the flap to the left of the lens folds over to protect the camera from hitting the lens when the camera is in the bag. I can put the camera in the bag with the 80-200 on the camera by folding the flap over whatever lens in in the lower compartment. You can see where the other items are stored.

I believe its the 200aw that I have.

I can get the camera in the bag with the 80-200 mounted, by having the camera in it the long way. When not on the camera, the 80-200 is where you see it in the photo. The flap to the left of the lense folds up to protect the camera when in the bag with the 80-200 not mounted.

Just got a Tamrac Velocity 9, can load my D70S with 1.7TC and 70-200VR, no problem. Also a sling bag, like the Slingshot, much handier than my backpack. I use it my daybag when travelling.

I have the velocity 7 and love it, however its too small to handle a long lens with TC on the camera. I have been debating between the velocity 9 and slingshot 200 based on your experience, I think I will go with the velocity 9 as I really like to keep the long lens and often a TC on the camera.
