New Guy, Need Help From Experts Here

This place, and you people are awesome. I just bought a new digital camera online and I've been reading posts here for a few days. Learned a lot. Anyways, I am having trouble getting my photos from the cam (fuji 4700) to the pc thru usb port cable (win ME). I installed everything it says, followed the instructions, but when I go to the viewer or editor and try to open a photo, it does not list my camera or the usb port as an option. I'm no computer wizard by any means, but I can usually figure these things out. This one has stumped me. I read way back that the fuji driver for win2k didn't work, can I use the 98 one with ME? I tried, but can't make it work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Again, I would like to thank you guys and ladies too, for helping out the new guys.

Hi Galen

Can you just clarify something,are your photos getting onto the PC? Can you see them in the viewer but not save them? Is that it?

Hi Galen,

When I first used my 4700 I had the same problem - assumed that the pc would pick up from the camera - it doesn't. 1st you need to ensure that the programme "exif viewer" is installed from the CD as this is used to communicate between camera and pc.

Then when you correctly set the camera it will automatically spring to life in a viewing window for you to use.
If you've done that then it seems you have a problem!

I had same problem with 6900 and Win ME. Solution for me was a card reader. Works well although the option to use the camera would be nice. Sorry I'm no help but if yo get an answer maybe I to can use it.

Nope, The computer recognizes that the usb cable is hooked up, but that's as far as I've gotten. I can't figure out how to tell the photos to go to the computer. ya know? Sorry I'm not sure exactly how much info is needed, learning still how this all works. Thanks for the help

Hi all
OK, I've got it now.
All I can suggest is you go here
http://www.fujifilmsupport.com/driver/cam_idx.htm

and download the latest drivers. Follow the uninstall instructions. If it still doesn't work then there's not a lot you can do, unless you can find a generic driver that works.

Hi dont now if this helps but this is the way it normally works.

Install latest usb mass storage driver for Win ME. Check the link someone else already gave.

Then hookup the camera and turn it on.

Open windows explorer and here you should see a removable storage device. Just like your c drive but it will have a new letter mine is F.
but the letter depends on what else you already have on your pc.

Just open up this drive until you see your pics. and than copy NOT move them to the directory you want.

This should do it as to be able to make it work the only driver you need is the usb mass storage driver.

I have found that some USB controllers aren't very friendly to USB devices.
I simply use a card reader.

Thanks for the help. Still no luck. I open windows explorer like you say, but there is no removeable drive. Just c, d (hard drives) e(cdrom) and 31/2" floppy. Stuck, someone please help! haha.

If I work with photo files I will have to reBoot 2-3 times.
Think I will try W2k. Am tried of win-me. Will not go to xp.
