Hello,

Question: Does the Sigma 10-20mm require wide filters (UV for instance) or will normal do fine? I've read about other wide lenses not neading the wide versions, but this lens is REALLY WIDE! (10mm)

Thanks to all for replies

I have test 10-20 with both kind of filters, and you have the same vignetting with thin or with normal filters. Maybe a little bit better with thin filters, but nothing significant.

The lens produces a little bit of vignetting by itself.

Regards

PS. Sorry, I replied to a ECCL post

That's interesting. I have tested my 10-20mm at 10mm wide open aiming at a blue sky with and without a normal filter and could not detect any vignetting.

May be I have a good sample!

It is not a very clear vignetting, it is a very small light off at the corners, more visible if you run the photo through PTlens.

But it is something very usual with all the ultra wide angle lenses.

I think with a normal UV filter is enough for this lens.
