I ordered the D30 on Monday (Oct 29th) with UPS Ground shipping (I was assured that I should have it by Friday).

Just called and now they're saying I won't have it till the middle of next week!!!!...Found out they didn't ship on Monday as promised, but rather yesterday (Wednesday).

GRRRRrrr! I was planning to play and shoot this weekend!!! I'm completely aggrevated now!

Should've gone with FedEx 2-day saver at the very least! Never trust UPS Ground to get it there within a reasonable amount of time...

Not necessarily true about UPS Ground, once the item is in transit you can go to their site and track it and they'll give you a GUARENTEED 'delivered by' date.

And in this case I ordered the item on Monday (and was ASSURED it was going out Monday)...But then I find out they actually ONLY sent it LAST NIGHT at about 7pm. So in actuality the item didn't really get into transit until TODAY!!!

I'm REALLY disappointed! So many good comments about Canoga Camera! And the Salesman (Mike Ratcliffe) was really great on the phone too.

Sigh. Now I've gotta wait till sometime next week.

You guys ALL have way more patience than I. When I order something of great importance, it ALWAYS goes out NEXT DAY and if I am really stressed about it NEXT DAY AM DELIVERY. The worst case I ever order is 2nd saver saver rates from say B&H. It always arrives just as planned. I don't think under ANY circumstance I would order where it would take longer than 2nd day ever! I won't even deal with a store that can't ship out the SAME day I order it. So far Delta International. B&H, Roberts Imaging and Cameraworld have abided by this.

I have no more patience than you . I usually shop at B&H, lately at Allen's Camera too - both ship out the same day I place the order, ship via FedEx Saver which always gets here the next day (and typically only costs around $6-10 depending on what I get). Can't wait more than that! :-)

What i would have done is ask them to pay for overnight shipping as the retailer not the shipping company made the error. Or if it was too late, I would have asked them to refund any shipping costs. mark

I ordered on Monday from Greg at Canoga, and when I asked if he had the D30 in stock, he said it should be in that day and if not he would call me.

Later that day he called and said that Canon had screwed up and had not sent the order out. They were shipped to Canoga, but went 2nd day, so my order didn't go out until Wednesday, the same as yours.

I requested next-day, and I'm sitting here right now waiting for the UPS truck to show up (tracking web site says its on the truck and headed to me).

On Peters advice, I dealt with Greg Noble, and he was straight with me the whole way. When he called me back to let me know they didn't get them Monday, he made a point of telling me that my card hadn't been charged yet, and almost sounded like he expected me to cancel my order. I told him that after all the good things I had heard about him and Canoga, and the fact that he called me back and was honest with me, I wasn't taking chances on any other dealers, and I had no problem waiting until Wednesday for them to get them in.

(2 minutes later, still no UPS guy...c'mon, c'mon...)

Ahhhh, so THAT'S what happened. I ordered from Mike (Ratcliffe) and when I called today to inquire about what happened, he said he'd investigate...But never called me back.

At least now I know what happened...Only problem was that Mike SPECIFICALLY TOLD me he had several in stock when I called and ordered on Monday.

Dammit, I'm going to miss the car show this weekend too! :(

What deal did you get at Canoga?

Canon D30, Battery Grip, Extera BP511, 1-year extended warranty: $2470.00. The D30 alone was $2175 on my invoice.

I also bought two lenses and paid $68 for overnight shipping.

I will definitely deal with Canoga in the future. A big "thanks" to Peter for bringing them to my attention!

Well, the UPS guy showed up at 6:15 last night with my D30 and associated accessories. It's definitely going to take some getting used to! I read the manual a couple of times before the camera arrived (online PDF), but that's obviously no comparison to actually having it in your hands.

First impressions:

1. Okay, I really don't like the camera on-off button. Must be my fingers...

2. LOVE the always-ready-to-shoot, no mode switching from play to record

3. Seems to expose better with my 420EX speedlight than my Pro90, even though they both do E-TTL.

4. Camera+lense+batt grip+2 batteries+420EX = H-E-A-V-Y, but I love the feel of it in my hands.

Oh yeah, and GREAT PICTURES! Haven't shot RAW yet (I shot it exclusively with my Pro90), in my excitement I just put it on 'P' and took some test shots. I'm going to the zoo over lunch today for my first "field test".

Similar for me, but they contacted me within two hours of my order to let me know they had not gotten their shipment form Canon and were expecting the cameras on Wed. UPS says it has left the airport and is headed to my house now...

I talked to Greg, and not only was he great taking the sale, he did the hard thing of calling back and saying "oops! It will be late, do you still want it?"

I should have tryed to hit him up for an upgrade to next day, but hey, they have a great price on the camera, and the guy called me.
