E10-Confiramtion of Version

The Awesome New Way! to find out the firmware version of your E-10! (As of August 10, 2001)

Ok people. Now this is cool. This was posted by "sam" on the DPR forum and all credit goes to him. How he found this out, I have no idea, but he did, and he is now God-ified. You can now check what your firmware version is WITHOUT any external applications. All you need is your E-10 by your side. Here's the process:

1. Turn E-10 Power Off

2. Open the CF/SM card Door--make sure the door is open. This is very important. I missed this little part and it did not work. ("sam" mentioned that you should have CF & SM cards out of their slots, but it still works with them in the slots)

3. Set camera in Play Mode

4. Turn On Power

5. Push Exposure compensation button (the "+ -" button on left side of camera that is in front of the Macro Button) and Record Mode button at the same time

6. The firmware version will display in camera's monitor

Turn to Page 14 in your E-10 Owner's Manual for the location of the buttons described above.

This also comes in very handy when you are shopping around for an E-10 as well. For those that are still considering an E-10, this will save you a lot of hassle and the local camera clerk won't know a thing, and you will not have to ask for any assistance
I have just purchased a brand new E10. How can I check the version
of firmware ?
You can also look at the EXIF info of any photo with a stand-alone
EXIF reader or some other software that will (such as ACDSee).
Mine says 42-0120.
