Where are the January D200??

OK, today I had the chance to play with a D200 and I was impressed with the AF, viewfinder and the speed, I want one now....problem is ...I do not see any available for sale in USA. It has been over a month that the first bulk of D200 arrived to USA, since then , and additonal 40,000+ units should've already been produced ......does anyone have a clue as to where these units are going to?....or ...did Nikon stoped producing units until the bading issue is addressed to avoid the cost of fixing this issue?

Anyone care to speculate where the D200 production if being distributed to????

One of the local stores in my area got some a week ago, but they disappeared in a hurry. Plus I hear the occasional post on this forum and others about such and such a dealer just got a shipment. So based on that, I'd say there's no evidence Nikon ever stopped production. I don't know why they would. I think the demand is just so overwhelming, and those places that were shortchanged in the initial release are now finally getting some, which means some of the first places to get them now have to wait a bit. Fair is fair.

They seem to be the only retailor that has bodies and sets in stock, but they are only selling them on Ebay.

The reason they have them is because their prices are outrageous !!!

That kit has a $2400 MSRP.

Most of them seem to be in the kits, which aren't selling out.

I got mine in December with no wait or pre-ordering at Circuit City for $1,300 (I know someone who got it for me with his employee price). I also got the Nikon 17-55mm DX.

I am not going to pay "e-pay" prices for sure, my point of my original post is that it ppears that Nikon has not been producing at the claimed rate of 40,000 units per month, otherwise we should've already had a sizable batch at the retailers like we did back in December

Did a get a "steal"? - No
Did I get robbed? - No
Did I get me a camera? - Yes

Could I have saved a few bucks by waiting? - Probably. But hey, that's the beauty of capitalism, supply, demand, price gouging, and those of us with an on-line shopping addiction....wee hee America.

Impatiently awaiting its arrival....
