I just wanted to post some recent experiences that I have had with KEH. This week I ordered an 85 f/1.8D and an 80-200 f/2.8 ED from them. Both lenses were rate as "EX" and the 85 was approx $200. less than a new one and the 80-200 was approx $500. less than new. Both lenses can not be told from new. There isn't a mark on them and they work perfectly. The zoom on the 80-200 is snug with no creep. I just wanted to recommend this store to anyone who hasn't used them in the past. Great gear at a very good price.

I've bought an F3 body and several lenses from them, and they've always been very conservative in their estimates. I wish they would have better shipping options, but I also would not hesitate to recommend them highly! If you order from them, you don't get what you pay for, you get something better :-)

..it is always with high anxiety when I buy something used. And, after getting torched buying used from another place that has been getting bad mention here lately, one is very skeptical.

I only bought from KEH once, and that was a 45 f/2.8P recently. The lens was listed "like new minus". When it arrived all the original Nikon packing was intact including the plastic bags and molded container for the lens, hood and filter. To me, it was brand new -- good experience.

why is it every time I look after a post like this , they do not have any worthwhile lens...:o(

I would take that 85 F1.8 for 200

Dave,

While KEH prices are normally about 10-20% above Ebay prices, you are always guaranteed to get what you ordered (and very often better). Even when you don't (ordered a Ex+Nikon 28 1.4 that had a scracth on the rear element), they will gladly refund you your purchase (no questions asked). In short, you definitely get what you pay for.

PS. I have heard of people ordering bargain lens
that turned out mint...

Placed an order last night on a F3 body rated EX+ for $399. Still waiting for the shipping quote(international), hoping it won't be too much, plus hoping the body will be in great shape. It's my first time buying from them.

fingers crossed

A few years ago, I slipped on a rock in the Chattooga river(a small sidearm of the river) and had water damage to my F5. They repaired it fairly quickly and it's still working.

First got my 50 1.4 for $139 than my 85 1.4for $659 both bargain grade. I can't find anything wrong with them optically. No marks on the glass. The 50 1.4 had some scratches on the plastic body. The 85 1.4 had two minor scrapes on the front rim that's covered with the screw on hood and filter it always wears. For these simple primes I'd do it all over. I love these lenses. With both lenses I knew I could return them if they looked worse than I expected.

Oddly enough the only other lens I purchased from KEH was an excellent grade 17-35 that squeeked. I'm in the middle of getting it exchanged but have absolutely no anxiety that it will work out in the end. Imagine doing that with some seller on ebay.

I bought a Nikkor 60mm f2.8 macro lens from KEH that was described as "Bargain". When it arrived I could not believe how lucky I had been.It was in faultless condition and the optics are first rate. Since then I have bought a number of lenses from them and have always found their ratings to be very conservative. They are worth giving a go as they have a return policy that allows you ample time to try out your purchase.

got a 85mm f1.8 from them - great conditions, great service - as an international customer, it would have been difficult for me to send it back in case, but no problem whatsoever happened. Keh and BH are my usual internet shops, and I am very happy with both. I tried Adorama, and never got answers, neither to my emails nor to posts here on the forum. Keh and BH are enough for me anyway, so I guess not a big deal. Best regards,

I have a couple of things I would like to get rid of. I did the
ebay thing and hated it.
I shiped some gear to them for a quote. I got the quote back for $450.00. I really wanted $500.00 for it all so I called them and told them what I wanted and they did just that. Needless to say, they won me for a customer!

I thought I had a bad deal going at KEH, in the end they came through in a round about way.

I got a two ring 80-200 f2.8 for their normal $695 price. I got a lens that look new except for a few place (all near each other) where the paint had be worn/scraped off.

That was ok with me, the main reason I bought form KEH was to be able to return the lens if it didn't work right. Second day I had it, the rubber on the zoom ring came off. Back it went, and while it did take 5 weeks, it was "good" as new when it returned. Then I noticed the famous "hair-line" crack that the 80-200's are famous for on the M/A ring. Sent it back stating that the Crack was causing it to have problems switch from M/A.

I had shot enough to know that this lens was very sharp from 80-200 from f2.8 to 22. About this time the 18-200 was announced. They told me that they would get me one and I wouldn't have to pay the shipping. So I said ok, not wanting to have any more go wrong with the 80-200. By mistake they sent it back in about 5 days fixed shipped overnight.

I called them and was told use the lens since we made the mistake. Send it back on us and we will either credit you, give your money back or get you a 18-200.

Well after two hards days of use (say 400 shots), I just couldn't give it up. While I thought the communications (I sent the lens back with a five page note that got lost) were somewhat different between departments, I can only say that I never felt that I wouldn't get any problem resolved to my satisfaction.

Except for a 105 Macro I have all of the lenses I ever plan on buying (kept my first 4 nikkors for 35 years:), but I will buy a used 105 from them will full confidence that they will make sure you get want you ordered and what you paid for.
