Thinking about purchasing one of these 2 storage options and it seems that more people are using the Digital Wallet as opposed to the Nixvue Digital Album. I like the slide show feature of the Nixvue product but it seems that lots of people have had trouble with it.

Just wondering if there is such a thing as a concensus on this issue.

Thanks!

Just to provide some balance, the jury is still out with me on the digital wallet. When I wasn't able to load the driver for my brand new DW I called th"toll free" consumer assistance line only to get a recorded message saying that it was temprarily disconnected and that I should call their 900 number that is fee for service. Next I e-mailed a complaint to the e-mail help desk and described the problem, and requested that they either return my call or e-mail a solution. I'm still waiting for either an e-mail or call back.

Hi I tested the two of them...

My choice would definetely be Nixvue...

From far a better construction quality, more features (TV), batteries do not drain. At speed reading level they are equal.

Just go nixvue it's my recom...

It is worth checking out the new Digital Wallet that has just been launched by M&W. It addresses a number of issues there have been with this product. It also means that the exisiting digital wallet will fall in price.

I have had my digital wallet for nearly a year now and it has worked fine. The only issues I have were slow download speed with USB and lack of a backlit screen, which have both been addressed with the new wallet, as it uses "Firewire".

I looked at the Nixvue and decided that the slide show facility was a 'nice to have', but not an essential. When you are out using the wallet for what it is intended for, there is no way I want to spend time glued to a TV, and when I am home, a monitor or laptop gives far superior images than my TV.

Just my "2 peneth"

Go with the DW. The TV out is a waste in my opinion, if I am home I will use the computer as it is much better quality. If you are traveling most hotel tv's do not have a video in, in some cases if you disconnect the rf it sets off an alarm. YMMV.

The DW works like it should and has been reliable for me.

My DA has been very reliable and trouble free.

The Digital album is working great after 3 months now - the choice is if you want the cheaper model then the Digital wallet is your pick - if you want better construction and performance then the Digital album is your choice(you pay more you get more - better battery, more storage, better firmware(not just my opinion but the reviewers also)).

Well, I have the NixVue DA for 4 month now and I have to admit it is very useful. I never tried the DW but here is the point that make me go for the DA:
  • The ability to use my DA as a FAST CF reader (about 3 time faster than the twain driver of the D30)
  • Cheaper that DW (In France a 10Go DA is the same price as a 6Go DW)
  • More feature such as TV output (not as fast as I was expected but useful enough for some little slideshow with parent or friend)
  • Very active support (Lots of firmware update)
My main complain is about stability of the drivers under W2k

Hope it helps

To be fair and update my prior post, in which I complained about difficulty loading drivers and then in getting "Help," I finally went another route (through consumer support instead of tech support) and got a prompt call back from tech support. The guy was very patient and spent over 1/2 hour on the phone with me until we finally got it loaded.................... Re the fact that DW doesn't play back to tv's it would seem that the new dazzle reader is a very good and inexpensive solution, in that it will allow you to format and burn a cd that you can (they say) play back on a normal dvd player. .....................So, I plan to use the DW for field storage and then burn cd's to watch slide shows on tv.. I'm hoping that the cd's will be progressive scan, which gives a pretty good image on a compatible tv.

The W2k driver has been very stable under Windows XP. I used my DA to transfer over 20 gig of photos and other files from my old Windows 98 PC to a new PC running Windows XP.
