Has anyone purchased the recommended case for the G2 and have an opinion about it? I think it's a PSC2000. There is only 1 Canon pic of it. I'd like to see what it looks like from the top and also what it is like inside.

The dpreview site mentions a SC-PS700 case which I cannot find on the Canon site. Does anyone know anything about this case?

I am considering buying a G2 and would like to get a case at the same time.
 
I don't know much anout the canon bags, but you could go for a Lowepro or another brand. I know they have a lot of different bags and you should be able to get one that fits you!

The SC-PS700 soft case looks really nice. I can't find it anywhere. Perhaps it's a non-US product. Until I can find one, I've bought a Tamrac 600 Expo Jr from B&H for $26. If you find a source for the PS700, let us all know.

I just ordered the SC-PS700 case from http://www.henrys.com . They also have a lot of other Canon stuff for the G2 that other sites do not have.

Is this the one they call "Canon Soft Case for G1/G2"? I can find the Canon model number anywhere on the Henry's site.

Also, someone posted some pictures of this one on this forum about a week ago.

I have it on order also from them. I hope to receive it tomorrow or early next week.

I tried ttp: henrys.com, but the server never replied, my browser gave up.
I found few sites, but no pictures :-(

has it for $45.00

CDW has it for $37.67 CDW part# 319155. Canon part# 7515A001

Just received my G2 PSC2000 case today. Great dark brown leather. I truely think it is a steal. Buy it & you'll be glad.

I called 800 ok canon and they did not carry or list the soft case (ps700) for the G2. I did purchase from a local dealer the Canon Custom Gaget Bag model 100 $29.00, nice fit for the GE, 420EX, mini tripod, cables and accessories.

Just received my G2 PSC2000 case today. Great dark brown leather.

I have now bought and received the case from Henry's. It is nearly exactly what I wanted. It is just the size of the G2 with very little extra space around the camera. For anyone who is intertested, there were some pictures posted of it a couple weeks ago on this forum. I only have a couple quibbles -

1- I wish they would have left a couple small openings in the cover so you can use the camera strap to carry the case and the camera. They could have placed a small strap with a snap to go around the camera strap so it does not get lost. We had a small Pentax point & shot that had that strap arrangement and I really liked it.

2- It would be nice to have a small pocket on both sides of the inside of the case. One side for remote, the other for CF, and the pocket in the cover can hold a battery.

Doesn't the case screw into the tripod hole? How do the straps attach? Do you use your original strap and leave it attached to the camera? Or is there a new strap that attaches to the case?

Yes it does. Unfortunately the screw is made of plastic so you lose tripod mount when the case is on.

The case comes with a new strap. It's similar to the original except it's in brown leather also. The strap attaches to the camera and not the case, so you can leave the original one on. I did.

I forgot to mention that, but the answer is yes.

However, the case will provide sufficient protection so I usually leave the lens cap off. I only use the cap if I detach the top section of the case.
