Epson 2000p final decision

I ran the 2000P for just over a year and was fairly** pleased with the results. It's SLOW and does occasionally drop the communication line from the PC and it can never recover. I think it's a USB timeout problem with the Epson driver. I only liked to Archival Matte paper with the 2000.

Got tired of the slow speed and rather narrow gamut so I upgraded to the 5500. MUCH faster and wider gamut, but it takes a LONG time to settle-in to the particular color profiles for different types of paper.

I think i fixed the problem.. i'm using Zone alarm, the software that protecs me agains external attacks (firewall). I had to enable the bi-directional communication program to act like a server, so it can send and recive information from the printer to the computer.. I'm also using a 10 ftp USB cable, that could be another problem.. i have the printer connected directly to the computer (i don't use a hub)..

Question: Why i can not have 4 * 6 photos... i always can print 4 * 5.33 photos using photoshop or Qimage..?
Question: Do you guys sell photos with this printer without problems?

thanks for the help...

Hi, David!

Just curious, but I was under the impression that the 2000P and the 5500 used the exact same pigmented inks. How could the color gamuts be different if that is true? This info came from an Epson rep I spoke to at a recent trade show where both printers were being demonstrated. Definitely the 5500 is much faster.

Thanks,

TomJ

I also thought the 5500 used the same inks as the 2000P which would argue for a similar gamut.
