What Should I Buy? I Want Only the Best!

Buy a modest camera with a modest lens.

If you buy too much gear and get in over your head, you'll be overwhelmed with how cool your gear is and won't actually take any photos.

You need to learn to see and photograph before you can appreciate the good stuff.

It's like learning to play violin. You don't start on a Strat.

By the time you're good enough to be worthy of "the best gear", "the best gear" will be outdated and new best gear will be around.

absolutely true ;-)
If you truly want to LOOK serious about photography.. primes!

Forget all those amateurish looking zooms. You'll impress far more
people with a vast array of wicked awesome primes at your disposal.

Better yet.. get all the Zeiss primes that are coming out soon.
This move will definetly catapult you into the "you can't touch me"
zone!

Good luck!

You are a true ****. It is a$$holes like you that try and ruin the profession us pro's took so much time to learn and build up. Do like the rest of us and build from the ground up. Learn how to do photography and not be such a ****.

Seriously... it's the best... in my book.

If money is no object, hire someone to take the time to order one of everything, including other brands. You'll find yourself using the D2X more than anything else and you'll probably use only 6 lenses most of the time.

After that first month has passed, donate your remaining gear to some charity that resells it and take a tax write-off... or maybe give me the leftovers so I can give the stuff to a charity... yeah... a charity [mischevious laughter].

Oh yeah... keep something like a D70s as a backup.

People will judge you on your images not your camera value.

2 "new" very rich Russian women are standing in a shop to buy a fur coat.
  • how much does it cost, asks one ?
  • 10,000 $ answers the shop assistant
  • don't be silly dear, replies the second woman, you can find it for 15,000 $ at the shop across the street.
Please note that this is not intended to offend any Russians members of thsi forum, it is just a joke. Please apologies in case you think my post is not appropriate.

Well, since you want the best, money is no object, and I note that you are in the Phoenix area. I suggest you just buy two of everything and lend one of each to me on a long-term basis. I will learn how to use the equipment and meet weekly with you to teach you. Now there's a deal!
