PS, Do you have a smaller camera for carrying around besides the Pro1?

No, I tend to leave the DSLRs behind most days.. including today. The Pro 1 doesn't look all that intimidating due to it's smaller scale... so I can often take it out in a lot of places that might frown at the DSLRs.

I am waiting for an Optical Stabilised IXUS though and will get one as soon as they are available. No word on their release yet though. I'm watching the PMA carefully, however.

(I really need a great mini-cam like an OIS IXUS)

Thank's Marco. You are a great inspiration.
I'm finding carrying the Pro1 all the time is still a little heavy.
Was thinking of getting something for the belt. Maybe a A620, Lx1 or F11.
I will probably go with the A620. What else is there? Sd550 is a little small.
I still want good image quality, but on the belt.

Thanks
Micah

The first one is excellent Marco

Thanks for sharing and I am also looking closely what Canon has at the PMA's.

You have gotten a lot of mileage and many great pictures with your Pro1. I always enjoy seeing your posts.

Like you, I do wish that Canon would make a Pro2, but I am beginning to fear they don't see it being as profitable as low cost DSLR's at the same price points. What a pity! I'd snap one up in a flash!

It is possible to make a small fortune in photography, you just have to start with a large fortune.

Thanks Sueanne,

I too am watching quietly from the sidelines to see what they have in store. The Powershot range is a major product line for Canon so I expect to see something special announced this year. So far, they're holding their cards to their chest.

Thanks again!

Hi Dale,

Thanks, my Pro 1 has held up admirably over the last year and a half. Certainly been worth every cent. Don't dispair, I feel that the DSLR will become superceeded for general service as costs fall due to lower production expenses...and in all reality, the public are sucking up DSLRs because of the better picture quality. But what they want is a live LCD & preview etc in a small all-in-one package. It's what I want too. Canon and Sony have inversted a lot of time and effort into cameras that essentially reproduce the effects of a DSLR without the expensive lenses and additional weight. Expect some new designs to appear soon.

Marco,

couldn't you be a bit more daring in speculating on future Canon models? You used to be very informative before and after the launch of the PRO1.

That was an exciting time: L glass on a P&S! PF and all that discussions on vignetting....

I wouldn't be surprised if you actually do know a bit more than you profess to know about Canon models to be released soon. And I would dearly love if your wishful thinking about DSLR-like performance in a compact digicam would come true - sort of a Panasonic LX1 with an APS size sensor and tilt&swivel LCD - all of the best quality!

Please tell if you know something on that line.

Regards, Guenter

I love both shots, both pictures look nice and sharp.

I'm also eagerly waiting for the arrival of PMA and the flurry of new product announcements that it will bring.

I would really really like to see a new, well engineered prosumer digicam with an APS-sized sensor come into the market.

Failing that, I'll probaby end up getting a Rebel XT at some point; for those situations that require low-light, no-flash photography.
