Near mint 200 1.8L on eBay for just $2500

It's $2500 and used! Sounds about normal for that lens.
Used ones in much worse conditions are often around $4000. There's one on KEH in "Excellent" condition right now for $4119 and another one on KEH that's in "Bargain" condition for $3520.

1) images are hosted on a server in Canada, even though the seller says they're in Missouri. Here's one of the image tags...reverse tracing that address results in an ISP address in Canada.

2) The seller has had no activity (buying, bidding or selling) since August 2005

3) They say they'll only ship to "confirmed" addresses, yet the only method of payment they'll accept is cash or money order/cashiers check

I would stay far away from this one...this is way too much money to throw about on somebody who is, for all indications, pretty anonymous.

Never Mind all. Looks like I didn't do any detective work before passing this listing along but from what folks are finding it's certainly looking questionable.

Bidders identities kept private (so they can offer it on a second chance) and sell it 2 or 3 more times!

Feedback: this account has never actually sold an item before and worse with no recent activity the original account holder probably doesn't have a clue his account's been hijacked.

This auction has scam written all over it, out of the clear blue the guy has a 200 f1.8 for sale? How many people have those and have no history buying or selling anything else camera related? If he actually has it on hand it's probably hot.

But thanks for pointing it out it will be interersting to watch, if it is for real and someone get's it for that price then it was worth the Risk.

His return policy:

"Returns are only accepted if the item is found to be counterfeit or is significantly different from the condition described on EBay."

Why anyone would think an honest seller would even have a return policy like that is incredible.

Translation: "If I send you a box full or rocks I'll be happy to take it back and give you a full refund"

Ya sure!

Well it sold for $2800+ of course no one will ever know who got duped!
