Personal info

Oh I just couldn't resist.. it was all in good fun and I am smiling :)
Interesting reading. Regarding Heidi, if she's telling the truth
this time, I think we should give her a break. :-)

Regards, Maxven
I have been interested in photography for over 35 years, even did
some professional work at one time ( yes Heidi PROFESSIONAL ) but
in recent years I have gotten away from it. In addition I am a
short wave radio listener, avid reader and love listening to jazz.

I started in digital photography with a cheap Kodak DC3200, but
when i bought the C2100UZ for the business my photographic
interest was reawakened. This forum has been wonderful -- the
sense of community, the fun, the knowldge and most of all the
TALENT ( again Heidi -- TALENT lots of it really take a look)
I find so many incredible images here -- some taken with
cameras besides the UZI LOL

Keep up all the great stuff I am here to stay
I wish more people would tell a little about themselves in the
personal information such as what type of work they do, what
country or city they live in, etc. I find those interesting when I
find one with some info.

Hi nashfilm.

That's one heck of a job you got there. Sure beats working computers at a newspaper. As Juli said you must meet a lot of interesting people and get to visit all kinds of strange places.

Green with envy, Maxven
What a great idea! I've often wondered, too, so thanks!

I am a Location Scout/Manager for Feature Films, Commercials, Music
Videos, etc. This means that when a movie (or any of the various
productions mentioned) needs to shoot on location, they'll send me
a script and ask if I know where their perfect world exists; I'll
go out, shoot pics, submit them to Company; if they like what they
see, they'll start sending folks for a personal look (Art
Directors, Producers, Directors of Photography, etc). After
settling on main locations, we look for more minor spots to round
out the project, keeping the Production as simple as possible by
having all sites preferably within an hour of each other so as not
to make a big "Company Move".

For example, Frank Darabont, Director of THE GREEN MILE and THE
SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, originally planned on shooting only one
location in Tennesseee, our old Prison (where Redford's new flick,
THE LAST CASTLE was shot); he then planned to go to Louisiana, but
we were able to find all locations in Tn, thereby avoiding
state-to-state move.

In fact, I went digital several years ago for ease of email
worldwide. Truly a Godsend for myself and all others in this
profession.

Some of my Projects:

THE GREEN MILE
LAST DANCE
US MARSHALLS
GET ON THE BUS
DAYS OF THUNDER
and the series of NFL spots currently running Sundays now, among
many others.

Anyway, hope this wasn't too long of a post, but there you have it.
In fact, most of my posted pics at http://www.pbase.com/nashfilm/galleries
were shot while Scouting for various projects; My Uzi never leaves
my side!

Thanks to all of you fellow Uziers out there for all your help.
Still working on Driver problems for my neighbor's brand new Uzi.
Many thanks for your suggestions there.

Waqas you're welcome to join our DPA (Digital Preview Anonymous) group. We're becoming a pretty large number of people by now. ;-)

Hey Maxven and Juli--

I have indeed had the great fortune to have met and worked with a number of very interesting people, and have certainly seen a bunch of diverse places; strangely enough, I've worked on a whole passel of movies based on life in Prison, so have a knowledge of inside the walls that I pray is the only way I'll ever have to see them (scouting, that is).

As to the job, it is both rewarding and frustrating, but truly is great--when I'm working. Projects can either be plentiful or sparse--surprisingly, since 9-11, work has been increasing rather than the reverse--kinda like the way gas prices have been dropping rather than rising. Go figure.

And yeah, Juli, we are neighbors--I'm in Nashville. Sometimes am over Memphis way. Gotta get my Rendezvous Rib fix every now and then, know what I mean?

Take care--

I'm a Rendezvous heretic. I like my ribs wetter. Memphis is a good place for ribs. The Rendzvous and Corky's are the most famous, but I really don't like either's sauce.

I'm glad to hear you've been busy.

Hi - I'm 50 (last week!) and work as an IT Consultant for a Local Authority. That basically means looking at new and future trends in technology to see if the Authority could make use of it. I have expanded this function so that I am allowed to look at digital photography! I am married, with 2 kids aged 24 and 17 - the elder is in the Royal Air Force and the younger is an apprentice joiner. I also have an old Jack Russell Terrier, but unfortunatley probably not for long. He is fading fast. I have a small stone cottage just outside a small town in Yorkshire, England, close to the countryside and in Bronte country. I like to get out and walk in the country when I get chance, and use my Uzi as it's meant to be used!

Hi Stephen.

Happy birthday! Looks like you have a lovely setting. I've only been to London but I enjoy watching british crime series like "A Touch of Frost", "Daziel and Pascoe", and plenty more. We get a lot of excellent British TV in Denmark and I've often admired the beautiful small towns and countrysides you have. And again, congratulations with your son. He's following a proud British establishment. Wonder what Denmark would have looked like without the RAF?

Computers are really addictive, especially the Internet and this
forum for me. I'm going to have to get a new chair soon.
You're right there, Ted! Uuuh... Juli... Join the DPA (Digital Photograpy Anonymous), we're trying to support each other getting rid of our addiction.

BTW, Wasqas, I've enjoyed reading your unbiased views on Taleban and the history of Afghanistan. Very informative knowledge about a very complex issue.

Is there really hope for recovery?

I was laid up for a good part of this year with injuries. The codene didn't
get me, but I sure got hooked bad on this site.

And yes, all views, all types should mix it up here. Pretty neat!

Good thought. I have updated my profile.

Hi,

I'm Nik. 29 yrs of age - at least for another 6 months! -SMILE-

I'm managing the photo/digital/video department at a store in Stockholm, Sweden. Proud to say that we are in the Top 5 of stores in Scandinavia on digital cameras and camcorders.

I absolutely love my job and cannot really distinguish between being-at-work and being-off-work - YES, I AM a work-a-holic and it feels GREAT! -SMILE-

I love taking pictures - portraits mostly. Feel free to visit http://www.pbase.com/nik for my pics. Most of them are of my friends and just for fun, some are shot for modelling portfolios of friends, friends-of-friends and people I've just run into for mysterious reasons. -SMILE-

Currently I don't own any camera, but using the ones at work. I have, however, had a friend's C2100 for quite some weeks now - and apart from sometimes terrible chromatics, it's a great camera!

Regards,

Nik
