It has been amusing following the D200 frenzy, the announcement, the wait listed orders, the rumor(s) of delivery date and finally December 15 came. December 15th was 6 weeks ago. Unless I've been missing it, there has been no signifcant deliveries since then. Only a few scattered D200s popping up at BB and such. No big delivers to B&H, Ritz, Adoraoma, true? Wonder what is going on, is it typical for Nikon (and others) to make deliveries maybe every couple of months? Inquiring minds want to know . . . .

I'm guessing that they shut down production in December and haven't started up since. Nikon has never shipped out a product this slowly 6 weeks after release. The store I ordered mine through (I'm 6th from the top of the list ) has been getting two at a time every 3 weeks. When I ordered it they told me I've have it by Jan 15. Now they tell me not to be surprised if I haven't gotten it by Feb 15.

I share your impression. Although I'm not sure that there's been a delay of as much as six weeks, there nevertheless seem to be shipping delays worldwide, and possibly shipping has been suspended for the time being. The obvious speculation is that Nikon wants to fix the banding problem before any more cameras are delivered.

It does seem to be progressing rather frustratingly slowly - I don't know why and I still don't have my D200 yet.

Early to Mid-February now seems the most commonly quoted likely date for significant further supplies for dealers in the UK. I phoned around a few dealers yesterday to try to get some sort of general picture. Most dealers I have spoken to are still waiting to fill back-orders so at pains to point out that if I did place a new order I would not get one for at least 3 weeks (maybe an optimistic estimate). 1 dealer estimated that I would have to wait approx 3 months as it would take him that long to clear his pre-order backlog! The ever dependable Grays of Westminster told me recently that they could get me one in 2 weeks. So there seems to be considerable differences between different dealers.
