Charlie was on the ball and noticed I had copied the new challenge link but obviously the paste didn't paste, drat. So on our opening thread it is coming up on challenge 22 instead of 23. Anywho, I corrected that on this post. Now you will have to look for this post to go to the challenge competiton gallery or click on the exhibition link on the first post and then head over to the competion gallery from there. I know you all are smarter then whips and can figure it all out. ;o) Sorry for any hassles.

Hi folks and welcome to the 23rd Oly DSLR challenge.

Our theme this time is:

Music to My Eyes

Get a song in your head and then go express the title of that song (and think of the lyrics too) in your photography. Think of it as a photo shoot for a cover for the 45 record sleeve. ;o) (for those of you who don't know what those were just ask one of us oldies)

The placeholder shots are some simple shots of what I mean. Title your shots the title of the song and for fun post who recorded the song too (if you know). Let your creativity juices flow! You all never sieze to amaze me with your great photography!

Kodachrome(digital) ...
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, Oh yeah
I got an Oly camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don't take my Kodachrome(digital) away

This challenge is scheduled to finish on Monday 13th of Feb. 2006, so as usual, you've got two whole weekends to get those pics shot, PPed and uploaded. The deadline is usually 9pm on the Monday (unless Pbase is having trouble with the uploading of the weekend shots), so lets all aim for that.

I'm very tickled with our exhibition gallery..

also to put this on page 1 for a little while again.

I went to the Ice Sculpture Competition down town Saint Paul. Those poor guys working their back sides off only to watch thier work melting before their eyes. Unbelievable to have these warm temps here in MN. 46* out there at 10:30pm and now its raining on top of it. I feel glad I got some photos before their works of art collapse under the conditions.

Hi Shirley,

Ending the challenge on Feb. 6 covers this weekend and next weekend and covers a total of 12 days which is now the standard length of the challenges. Only one previous challenge was extended for an additional week when the moderator was unavailable for the normal ending of the challenge. Don't feel bad as this is not the first time that someone posted the wrong ending date for the challenge.

the weekend will be nice for everyone and you can get some good photos at whatever you go to. You all will have to help me bump this thread now and then. I woke up today and it was down on page 6 in only 11 hours.

Great theme Shirley. Harder than it looks to find images to fit songs though ;-)

BTW, I turned on the links between galleries, hope that's okay. It saves back spacing or coming out of a gallery to go into another.

put a couple in the exhibition, I see that the last comp is still in the comp section??

I posted the right one later down on the threads but hopefully ya'll can figure out how to get to the main challenge alright... Uggg I copied and pasted in the new link and obviously my paste didnt paste Whoops! Sorry for the hassle!

Wonderful exhibition! Now the work begins getting them for the competition! Hope you are enjoying it as much as me.

Turn on the links between galleries? It was not set when I set up the last challenge - then !bingo! it was there. I like that feature but do not know where it resides.

getting some good ideas in your minds eye yet? I feel silly, I was the one who thought this would be a fun challenge and I am feeling brain dead. LOL No, I do have some ideas, now it is just implementing them. I'm going to sit back and listen to my music downloads and get inspired some more. )

Want me to add the lyrics for you? It makes it nice to see the words and look at the photo and drift away. Or laugh depending on the song (red rooster and the cow photos for example)

Hi Brent,

It's very easy. It's a fairly new feature, it wasn't there last time i set up the Kodak challenge galleries, but Adrian turned it on in either the last one I moderated or the next challenge. You go to the current challenge gallery, then look a little way down the page to this bit:

edit views: full edit ~ sequencing ~ upload ~ advanced

Click advanced and you get to this:

Advanced Gallery Settings
enable voting voting is allowed for this gallery
linked subgalleries subgalleries link to each other (help)
display technical info display camera and EXIF information with photos

You want the middle section (it has a radio button to select) and click the linked sub galleries option.
