--When a photo is printed from film ... the negative is enlarged toMay be here I am missing the issue. I am thinking that photos
should look perfect when scaled at 100%, the true size. I am
confused in fact.
fit the paper, and the amount of real resolution is about 200ppi or
so. In the digital world, printers can pack a lot omore pixels in
an inch, so we tend to take the 2800 pixels on the long dimension
and print them onto the 6 inches of paper. That gives over 400ppi
... so when you look on screen at an image at 100%, you are
spreading all these pixels out and examining them far too close.
This is useful for comparison between digicams, but not for you to
see how the image will look when printed or when downsized with
interpolation for display.
Example: my recent sports equipment series. Close goggles shot.
A crop at 100% with lots of visible noise because it was shot at
1600ISO. If noise scares you, shoot in auto, because it will not
jump to 1600ISO.

Full shot reduced to 640 only. Still noisy, but a lot better.
Certainly fine for a snapshot ... especially if 1600ISO was the
only way to capture the shot.

Same shot post processed appropriately for display ... this shot
can get peoples' attention.

Many thanks for your explaination. It looks to me more evident now. Any way the last photos looks great. But what sort of magic touch can be done to get that quality!!! Great job.
