I've run into what I think is a good deal on a Canon PowerShot 20 digital camera with the DK-110 power supply kit and camera case for $750CDN.

After doing some research, I've come to the conclusion that I'm either going to buy this camera or go with the HP618. Which is the better bet? I can get the HP for about $100 less after buying the power supply kit for that one).

Thoughts?

You mean the a-20 right that is the most recent since the s20 is higher in megapixels then the 618 and I could be wrong but I think it is discontinued.. I personally own the a-20 and have a friend who owns the 618. The a-20 produces considerbaly better image qaulity then the 618 but the 618 has way more features and also uses the digita techonolgy which allows you to download scripts for your camera to perform certain tasks such as making your pictures into webpages etc. You have to choose one over the other either image qaulity or features. But if you really meant a s20 which is a older camera and has higher megapixels then the 618 then I would say the s20 although the 618 is newer. Hope that helped.

seems like you meant the s20 right? I guess the exchange rate is a little high at your end. I believe the s20 is hovering around 400 US.

The s20 is still a good little cam and quite capable. I've had mine for a year and I still enjoy using it and I've found it's extremely durable as well. I'm in no rush to "upgrade' to the latest.

What made you look at the s20?

Yes, the S20. Although it is hovering around $400US, the s20 doesn't include the DK-110 power supply kit. (which is about $100US, anyhow). So... that's $500US vs. $750CDN, so it's about the same in the end.

Glad to hear you like the S20. Everything I've read suggests it's the better camera.

Hi Mike:

Yes, I do in fact mean the s20. I realise it's the older model, but it just seems like it's the camera I really want in the end. Although the 618 has a 3x Optical Zoom on (Pentax Lens), I just can't seem to justify going that route. After looking at the softer image quality whenever I've sen photos taken with it, the s20 looks like the champ (although it's got the notorious purple sky problem -- which is rectifiable with PhotoGenics). So, I appreicate your input on that.

Cheers,
