Does it bother you at all that the Image Bank has an external
battery pack?
The external battery back is as thick as an AA battery. I am used
to carrying around a duffle bag (diaper bag) where ever I have been
going, so I the battery pack is not a big deal. Plus it fits into
their case perfectly and does not get in teh way.
That seems to be somewhat of a disadvantage compared
to the internal battery of Digital Album and Digital Wallet. Also,
20GB is around 10,000 photos. Don't you think that is overkill?
I am a pack rat. All of my images go to teh Sima first, then my
system hard drive then a cd. Plus I use the Sima for work (transfer
huge files). So it works out for me by killing two birds with one
stone. Work and fun.
I don't think I would take that many pictures in a year. 3GB or 1,500
shots seems plenty for even the longest of vacations (that's like
taking 41 rolls of 36-shot film). I'd hate to have to browse thru
any more than that when I got home! Eeek!!
The Sima beraks it up into sepereate folders so you always know
which one is the latest folder of files.
Anyway, the reason I ask
is because a 3GB Digital Wallet can be had for $180, a PCMCIA MS
adapter for $42, and a case for $12 for a total of only $234. Maybe
it's not very cost effective when you compute raw cost per MB but
why pay an extra $140 for storage that you'll rarely use?
True, in my statement I should have added that this may not be the
"right" solution for everyone. But if you don't need to transfer
games, software , mp3's, and photos and don't mind to keep burning
to CD's then the Dig-wallet would be a great option. I love the 20
gigs becuase I never have to think about it. Plus I can partition
it and the Sim awould recognize partitions as well. So one could
be phots and one could be work...
