Epson 2000p final decision

Hi ...

I want to print photo quallity images and sell them to customers so they can keep the photos for long time (like weddings and importants events like this).. both are really important (photo quallity and longevity) for me..

should i buy the epson 2000p yes or not?!

I'm not an expert, but I have the 2000p and really like it. I was also interested in the life of the photo and also the quality of the print. I am also interested in getting into doing photos for people. I am doing a wedding this weekend. This printer does good quality photos. As far as I can tell it doesn't use any more ink than my Hewlett Packard, and the ink is a little cheaper. I have a site for a good price on ink and paper. Now be sure that if you buy this you use the right paper. Only paper for this printer. Let me know what you decide. I know you'll like it.

I'm not an expert, but I have the 2000p and really like it. I was
also interested in the life of the photo and also the quality of

I am a new 2000 owner. I printed an 8x10 using Premium Luster paper on the 2000 and the 1280. I believe I liked the 2000 better.

I will feel a lot more confident in giving clients, friends, etc. a print that will last a great deal of time.

I talked to a salesperson who told me that he, personally, wouldn't ever sell a photo from an ink jet printer, no matter what it is. I don't agree.
I do most of my printing on matte finish and like the results.

Be careful where the photo's from the 2000 are displayed as they have been known to have a green tint under some lights. I haven't seen it yet.

I use the 2000P for landscapes with emphasis on the southwest. It does a very nice professional job. I particularly like the premium lustre paper which comes in 13 inch by 32 foot roles.

Ok! i finally bought the epson 2000p for $899 and the first print i did was amazing. I used the luster paper that came with the printer and the default settings.. Finally i saw a photo from a printer that i can sell, no questions abou it..!!

But i wonder if there is any plugins for photoshop or especial setting that i am missing to get the best of the best in quality from this printer..

Why didn't you buy it at Buy.com or something like that? They are selling it for around $750. I got the 2000P for about $725 a few months ago from Buy.com. I still have the 1270 but decided that if I was going to sell something, it must be archival.

Hi chunin..

I have problems buying expensive stuff online. I feel much better thinking that i can return the product just driving my car to the store no matter if i have to pay 50 or 100 dollars more..

For example when i was trying to buy my e-10 i saw a cheap online store that offer the camara for just 1000 dollars. thanks God when they were checking the information of my credit card with me, the guy from the store tall me that the camera comes without warranty and that i have tu buy it separatly for 399 dollares, almost the same price that i get from circuitcity..

For compac flash cards and stuff like that i dont have problems..

Carlos, If you are printing out of Photoshop, I've found that using the unsharp mask with settings of 7-13,80,0 will do a nice job of perking up 2000P prints. The percentage

Sure I undertand you. But the case that you have illustrated was obviously a scam taking place. I personally belive that there is no risk with buy.com. I have purchase thousands of dollars from them with no problem. And the shipping charges were minimal. I also buy a lot from B&H with no problem. Of course that when buying online and you see a price too good to be true then it must be a scam. But regarding ink and paper, you can buy it from buy.com which is much cheaper than in a local store and have more variety. I have gone throgh more than $400 in ink in the last 2 months printing fine art pictures at 12x18 in 13x19 archival matte paper.

I'm like you about buying expensive stuff online. However, my husband bought the 2000p for me in May at Egghead.com. I haven't had any problems and I have talked with Epson several times. I'm glad you decided on the 2000p. You won't be sorry. I buy a lot of stuff from Buy.com also, but if they don't have free shipping, you can get your ink and paper from http://www.atlex.com I've ordered a lot from them, with no problems.

But how do you fix the green aspect of the photos at daylight.. i'm using photoshop 5.5..

I personally haven't had problem with that. There is a green shift in daylight but I make my prints balanced for daylight and so the shift is toward a warmer tone when in tungsten light. Some people find it terrible but most find it acceptable enough. People that have not used the 2000P have the perception that the color turns green in daylight which is not true. It just gets a slight shift in color and not a transformation.

I created a custom profile with Profiler RGB and it works fine. But some people have said that the generic ICC profiles from epson works very good and some have claimed that even better that custom profiles created with Profiler RGB or Monaco. I haven't used it yet since I'm afraid that if it really turns out better, I will have to reprint all my portfolio and fine art images which mean a few hundred dollars in ink and many days of constant printing. But be aware that buying a daylight balance lamp is a must so you can check color accuracy at any time of day in your print room. have you experienced communication errors with the epson 2000p under windows 2000, using the usb port?

I'm having randoms problems with that.. looks like (afert many tests) you can not turn on the printer before the computer.

any comment about this?

No, I haven't had communication errors with the 2000P. But I do start the computer before the printer because I have error in my computer set up and If I turn something before the computer, the startup will not complete. Are you using the USB port directly from the computer? Or are you using it with a USB hub? It seems that a USB hub always creates this kind of problems. If you are not using a hub, then I have no idea what it could be.

You might try a different cable. If the cable is long, that may cause a problem. As Chunin said, it is best to connect directly to the computer. Also if you had a prior Epson printer, you should do a clean install of the 2000P software after removing all prior Epson printer software. Are there other devices on the USB that may be competing for bandwidth. The printer takes about all the capacity of USB and other devices using the USB may cause difficulties. Leon
