Photo shop in Washington DC

We have nothing the size of B&H but I would suggest Penn Camera, http://www.penncamera.com/ . The website has locations and you can look for the one best for you. The 18th St location is only a few block away from the White House and the E St location is a few blocks away from the MCI Center at the Capital end of the National Mall.

There is also a large Ritz camera on L St NW near Connecticut Ave.

Penn has the best selection of gear, but the prices will be considerably higher than the large retailers like B&H. If you are in the Tysons Corner area (suburban Virginia) there is a Penn store along Rt. 7.

Feel it - Shoot it - Understand it: Shoot with feeling always, then ask, 'How did I do that? How can I make it better?'. See: http://super.nova.org/DPR

Agreed,

Another option, as long as you know where you going to be staying and you know what you want, would be to order from B&H and have then deliver to where you are staying. This may require a phone call or two but you could order just before getting to town and have it delivered a day or two after you get to town.

Ace Photo in Sterling, Virginia - http://www.acephoto.net/

Near Washington Dulles Airport (if that helps).

I've been to Penn & Ritz. Ace Photo has a better selection, lower prices, and a more knowledgeable staff (most shoot Nikon professionally). It maybe a little out of your way but they are IMHO by far the best pro-grade camera shop in the DC metro area.

Enjoy the visit. DC has countless photo opportunities.

Cheers,
JB
I am visiting Washington DC (from outside US) next week and would
like top get some photo equipment. Could someone please recommend
me a good photo shop (like B&H, adorama...). Thanks.
