I have a Nikon 995. I'm trying to decide whether to buy Peter INova's ebook 3.0 or Dennis Curtin's Short Course for the 995. Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks.--Barry

Both are probaby good books. I just got Inova's ebook and really like it. It goes further than just the camera itself. Has filters, Photoshop techniques and more. I bought it on recommendation from several on this forum that it was the best.. Jerry

Hi,

I would go for iNova's ebook. I was not at all happy with the short course books, they are just that short. In my opinion they are just "fleshed" out camera manuals where as the ebook has more details and much better examples and the images are in color and better quality. IMHO, YMMV

I have the short course for 995 and version 2 of the ebook (which covers 990 but not 995) . . and feel both are good depending on what you want and how far you want to go . . . . each is worth what you pay . . you get more with the ebook and you pay more . . . . if you want to go beyond fundamentals, I would go for the ebook

Peter's book is the best accessory you can buy for your coolpix. Shortcourse is little more than a retelling of the manual.

Agree totally with Lew.

The short course book takes the instruction manual and turns it into a group of practice sessions (it does add some neat tips along the way).

iNova really gets into the "photography" and "digital darkroom" end of it...and I would be lightyears behind where I am now without it.

Have fun either way -- that's what its all about.

I just ordered mine. Don't forget iNova's ebook comes loaded with Photoshop actions to improve your pictures and workarounds for coolpix shortcomings. After all, he's somebody who not only trully knows the subject but uses these cameras.

I bought the Short Course book for my 950 way back when and was sorely disappointed. I thought Peter iNova's book was a bit pricey until I actually laid my eyes on it; it is worth the $50 even without the software included on the CD.

Chuck,

iNova is primarily a Nikon guy....BUT....well over half to 3/4 of the eBook would be more appropriately titled "Digital Photography"....the lessons you'll learn and the PhotoShop goodies work with any image created by any digital camera.

-(I'm actually using them more for my Canon D30 shots from work than I get to use them for my own CP995 shots.)

I am a novice and am not familiar with the many terms used in photography. Does the ebook explain all the terms in such a way a novice will understand or do I have to look for other specific books? I have a Coolpix 995. Thank you,

Shafak
