With the release of the ZF (Nikon) platform it was stated that their lenses would be on other platforms in the future as well.

Do you think Zeiss is waiting to see if the Sony DSLR is successful before they make glass for it, have no plan to do it, or already have it ready to go?

The lenses being released for Nikon and other mounts are manual focus and prime only, so it won't make a major difference in the future of Sony SLRs.

Zeiss has already made an AF DX lens on the Sony R1.

Since its designed to work with Sony technology, it would be easy to implement on a Sony DSLR.

on a DSLR (with a mirror) would it?

I thought the R1 lens was specifically made for a short back focus...

What Sony technology are you referring to? There is a very big difference between the design of the R1 and that of a DSLR.

It would be an actual new design. No one has made a camera designed around digital; they were designed around film.

I know it would not be an SLR.

do not put out an SLR, but they probably will. It may have a mirror lock up with live preview.

But I really hope they put out an EVF with the KM sensor IS and interchangeable lenses...No mirror!

But why did they need to buy Minolta's camera business then, if they are going to start from scratch - the new design could not use Minolta's mount and their lenses, which is a major part of the system.
