How is Oly able to stay afloat and not KM, do they have some one big behind them (Olympus)

--They almost did go under last year, I think it is their medical imaging division that kept them afloat. Also they are now bringing most of their manufacturing back in house to control costs rather than have Casio build for them.

We don't know. KM got kicked badly with a patent problem, Oly blazed faster and better along the consumer digicam path. They did better with their choices on how to spend their money and what to sell.

Who knows what the situation of Olympus is? There's certainly fewer Oly users out ther then there are KM users, but maybe they have a good enough strategy to be profitable. KM packed it up before it was too late. Maybe the other smaller manufacturers are not able to read their future so well. Anyway, Panasonic backing the 4/3 Oly system possibly will make them a major player like they were during the OM/Zuiko era.

updating giving the customer what they want. Think about it, how many times have we seen the Olympus camera dslr before and after KM. Olympus had dlsr way before Km and made several more after.

KM IMO is more a myopia type of company, something that I had addressed sometime back on here. And you know what happens to companies that are myopia, they go under.
