Been away for a few days..[5 x img]

Hi Lance,

Great pictures as always. I've tried to give some comment on each of them:
  1. 1 Very nice composition. I always like sea views like these. This one seems a bit oversatuarated to me. Did you use a polarizer? If conditions were like these I apologize! Sorry for being a bit harsh.
  1. 2 & #3 I am a sucker for cows so I like both... but I prefer the close-up. The blurryness of the cow in the back ground and no other distracting background makes it very powerfull. Great shots!
  1. 4 that's a weird looking flower. The background is great too. Wow!
  1. 5 that's a great shot. The reflection in the water keeps me looking. I don't mind the blurrieness in the foreground. Colors are great too although... see comment @ #1 but less distracting this time. I am, however, not sure about the distortion in this picture. It seems a bit fish-eye-ish to me.
I've been away this weekend too but I didn't get shots like these... I am nowhere near. Thanks for posting them!

Nice shots mate, I just noticed them. I prefer the 2 landscapes and particularly like the composition of the lighthouse - the reflection in the pool and framed by the bushes was a good find!

I especially like the beach shot, beautiful light. I smell and hear
the sea when looking at it!
Thanks Menno! :-)

...wonderful images Lance, but that first one is a real stunner IMO.

Thanks for showing.

Just a ND filter and a little PP work, but not much. Shot RAW, adjusted curves and a touch of saturation then converted to TIFF. A very small amount of Highlight/Shadow, reduce image size for web and sharpen with Power Retouche. Done.

Conditions were similar to this, but I am not trying to give a perfect rendering of the scene but my interpretation and how I want it to look. Artistic license you know! ;-)

I used the DA14 which is a rectilinear lens, in otherwords it shouldn't have a fisheye effect. As for how the pic was taken and post process, it is similar to my comments for pic #1l, ie:

I think this shot looks great... it really stood out to me from all the photos in this set (all are very good, but the first one is exceptional to me)

Thanks for sharing!

Regards!

PS. There's some rather odd-looking bokeh (or is it moire?) in the grass in the middle of the third shot... did you notice it?

Beautiful photos Lance!!! My resolve to hold off on the 14mm is weakening with each post you make with it. :)

No I can't say that I see what you are indicating. Can you be more specific as to the exact location, please?

If you like the extreme perspective of wide angle you will love the 14.

Just to the left (looking at the image) of the feet of the white cow... maybe it's just my monitor, or compression of the image for web viewing?

Very nice picture, anyway, just the grass in that particular area looks a little odd to me!

I can't see a problem on my monitor, but maybe others can see the problem, if there is one?

Could you tell us something about your pre and post processing in the #1 shot, please?

Hi, Lance!

Sorry for answering that late - I was a bit ill and could browse the posts here, but hadn't the stamina to actually take part in the discussion. But I saw your pics and made a mental note to reply later!

I'm impressed by your pics. For one they show the excellent skills you have for photography, and on the other hand the clarity, color rendition, sharpness and contrast of those pics tell a great story of those superb lenses you use.

BTW: Seeing those pics I am now seriously considering to get the DA14. I sold some gear but have a hard time deciding on what to spend the money I got for it. I'm getting the impression that the DA14 has a slight edge over the DA12-24 and - we'll see - maybe also over the DA10-17 ;-).

But I'll wait a bit further and see what some more experiences with the DA10-17 will tell me.

I thank you for such very nice comments and I am really humbled by your praise.

I really like the DA14 as you can probably tell. As for the DA12-24 or the DA10-17, I am also in a quandry as to which to get but I am probably leaning towards the 10-17 as I have the DA14 and the 16-45 so I have most of what the 12-24 has to offer. I would like the distorted fisheye perspective of the 10-17.
But I'll wait a bit further and see what some more experiences with
the DA10-17 will tell me.
