New: ACDSee Pro Photo Manager.

Then don't even waste time trying to edit in Acdsee, photoshop rules that dept and will for some time. Do however try using it instead of Bridge, for browsing and database it's really nice. I'll be using CS2 and Acdsee that way... until Lightbox is out for PC's.

...many features that are in this tool are also in the latest iView MediaPro. My whole catalogue is in iView MediaPro-format and I'm not sure if I like trying another package ;)
At least the iView software imports other formats (no, I dont work for them ;)

CHEERS!

I was on the upgrade list and they sent me a e-mail for a upgrade and i did it and so far i hate it.

Before using the version 8 i could see a thumb of all my raw files but the new pro version none of the D2H or D2HS file will show up at all and when you click on one it crashes the program.

I do have Canon files from a 20D also it will show them but in the edit mode its slow slow slow i have been using RSP and its much slower then RSP and can not do as much as RSP.

But i could see a atvanage to using it sometimes for one image you need to work on in place of opening RSP.

But i just moved to the D2HS and it will not work at all for this.

From what i can see it has very little new compared to V8 except for the raw slow editing everything looks the same to.

OO one new thing is it shows you a histogram under each image and shows the shutter speed.F iso and iso of the image for each large preview i do like that.

But for raw editing i will stay with RSP.

Why not edit in ACDSee? Photoshop is a lousy viewer / sorter. I find it advantageous to do my basic imange enhancements in my primary workflow software (i.e. ACDSee) and save the extra (and slow) task of opening PS for my detail work ie for images that need to be perfect. Saves time.

I totaly aggry with you !

Thanks Dominique!

Incidentally, it is helpful to quote some text of the person to whom you reply, because otherwise, in "flat" mode, one has no idea, without changeing views, to whom you are responding :)

anyhow, thank you again,

I guess the only way to set the white balance is to use the presets
or the sliders for temp and tint... bummer.

BTW: I'm converting canon CRW and CR2 files.

Just got through looking at it and it looks ok. One big problem I
see is you can't use an eye-dropper to set the white balance in the
raw converter..???
Sure you can. Click the Color tab in the RAW Processor and it
works fine.

Tony.
You don't need to select an eye dropper. Just switch to the Color tab and click on the image.

Tony.

Boy, do I feel stupid. Thanks.

to have the newest models sometimes! I'm doing fine, my old junker D100 and D70 are supported and I'm betting by the time I get a D200 it will be too.

Really, I doubt Acdsee is the only program that doesn't support the D200... in fact even CS2 doesn't.
Only Nikon Capture and Adobe Lightbox do so far.

I know if I had a new D200 I'd be a lot more upset not being able to use RAW in my expensive CS2 than Acdsee.

My point is all new camera's have a lag time after intro until Raw is developed into all programs.... perhaps instead of being mad at software companies people should get after Nikon to incorporate DNG file type into the new camera's then nobody would have to wait.

Er no, Photo Mechanic, Iview Multimedia Pro, Imatch, Bibble, Raw Magick, to name but a few support the D200 and the D2hs which has been out nearly a year!

ACDSee just gets patched to much, the product looks great but i could live without the D200 support, but no D2hs support! Come on...

someone should let the D200 forum know, all the hype is about lightbox because it will open D200 NEF's, there's been no mention of other programs that will yet, at least that i've seen. Funny ACR isn't yet.

By the way with Imatch I checked 1 minute ago for an update and there hasn't been one since 3.4.0.34 april 25/05 so I wonder how it works with the D200 NEF's?? Is it the only one that doesn't need an update to work with the D200 NEF's??
D2hs well, guess I just have no interest in that one, so never noticed.

I was curious to know how it could work without an update so went and found the answer, from Mario's post on D200.

don't now if I should direct quote him so I won't. Basically Imatch does just happen to work without updates, depending on other Nikon software installed on your computer. Ususally works but may fail to auto rotate or cannot extract full RAW, will have to wait for Nikon to release update on software kit to fix.

I have 7, and is it just me but I've never been able to get it to properly display my earlier D100 and current D2h (not "s") NEFs. Colors are 'way off in greenland. It's been a great tool for fast viewing of jpegs (I shoot RAW+jpeg fine) but every time I open a NEF image the subjects look like they've got motion sickness.

Nobody else in this thread's complaining about this, so am I doing something wrong here? I've enabled color management and have the RAW plug-in and latest updates.
