FL-36, not enough for bounce flash?

With the flash pointed up, you have zoom settings 16 and 20 or off.
So to be clear when using bounce mode, with the 7070, when you choose 16 or 20, it works okay, but if you select Auto, it results in a dark image?

Then what if you use the 8080? It is okay with all three settings?

Well, that's partially right Michael - but I found that I just cannot use the FL-36 (or any Olympus flash for that matter) in bounce mode with the C-7070 (which is uncanny). As long as you use the flash in the normal straight forward mode, then yes...it works fine. The moment you tilt up the flash head up (even using a Stofen like I always do), you get dark pictures. Can't put my finger on it - it's as if it loses something in the process of using bounce mode - very unique. I've worked at this long and hard, but with the 7070 I just put on the Stofen and face the flash forward. And I use it off camera (see picture below) with the optional Olympus flash handle - and it seems to work fine in that capacity.

Good shooting...

It did work better with the C8080. The zoom could be turned off and proper flash exposure's achieved.

Try setting the zoom mode on the flash to 16 or 20.
