When is the D200s comming?

spring 2006. it is rumored to have 18.3mp, 8fps, 3" LCD, increased buffer size, and will use tri-color sensor similar to foveon. however, they will returning to a D50-like body, all plastic, with EVF instead of OVF, and no iTTL ability, flash sync of 1/60", and non-removeable fixed quantaray lens, 8mm-400mm/f 5.6-8.

btw, the lens is rumored to have a little barrel distortion at 8mm.

I heard the Quantaray was a constant f/2.8 with a 55mm filter diameter and weighs less than 14oz. (not to mention the VRII and ED glass). Unfortunately, the 200s has a Fairly Unfamiliar ("FU") mount and the new lens will not fit older bodies.

I guess they will adress that problem. There is a firmware upgrade that will introduce settings to increase the amount of banding that is present.

Btw the d200 s is going to feature a widescreen lcd. It's very handy, now when you want to preview pictures it looks alot more balanced due to the black borders on the left and right of the picture.
