Loansharkx asked an interesting question about what some of the most most useless pieces of photo gear are. Following in his footsteps, I'd to see what are some of the most useful, non-camera / non-lens, photographic tools we use are.

Mine is my Kirk L-bracket for my D100 and RRS L-bracket for my D70.

--I have 2 first is old Vivitar 2XTC with extention tube bulid in I have removed optical elemants and now use as veri extention tubes.Second 45 years old Ceuntry Optics focusing stage shortes most strudy focusing rail I have ever see.smooth movemants and only 3" long.

Fit for release from a mental institution but banned from the 3-0-0-D forum since 6-2005.
 
Destroyed my original D70 neckstrap after 6 months. Picked up an Optech and I love it so much it followed me over to the D200. The rubber's wearing off and the neoprene's starting to fray though so I'll probaly need to pick up a new one in a few more months.

Bigger, faster memory card. I guess that's like saying "film" so I won't really count it.

I would say that for digital it's the portable storage device. Still haven't fealt like I've chosen the perfect one yet, but they are unbelievably awesome at an event.

For film, probably the Moose filter.

I recently bought some LCD scratch resistant protectors from da Products for my D100, D2X and D2H to replace those silly plastic clip on ones that get lost or broken so easily. The cameras look so much more stylish with them too. One of my more useful purchases, right up there with the DK17M magnifying eyepieces.

I have often thought that if photography were difficult in the true sense of the term, there would be a vast improvement in the output. The sheer ease with which we can produce an image often leads to creative disaster.

I completely forgot about grad filters......my grad filter set is probably the single most important thing to me in creating the images I want to make and bringing my photography to a much higher level of quality.

My L brackets are my SECOND mose useful pieces of non camera/lens photo gear!
