Hi all

Like many I've been lurking here for a while and I've just recently received my new H1 (finally!). I haven't gotten out to shoot any ducks yet, but until then here's a couple of a Burchell's Coucal that visit's our garden occasionally. They were taken on my first evening with the H1.

What a great camera and what a great forum!

Those captures are superb.

But they're also a great candidate for just a hair or post-processing to make them "jump out".

I hope you don't mind, but I took a couple of minutes to see how they would brighten up (on my monitor, they're just a bit underexposed). Here's the result - not very dramatic, but (at least on my monitor), enough to make these truly excellent shots "pop":



Just a touch of levels and a slight sharpening. You can do much better on the full-size image.

Again, hope you don't mind. It's a great picture.

Thanks Alan! And may I also say, you're white paper is a gem. It alone has increased my enthusiasm for this camera and digital photography! Get a paypal donate button on their fast!

I agree, both shots are a little underexposed. Your touch up looks good, I will have to experiment a bit (I'm a complete novice at post processing).

Thanks again for the kind words. There are some great spots over here to find ducks so as soon as I get a chance I'm off to find some (maybe this weekend?).

If your ducks are as good as your birds, I can't wait to see them. Lots of detail in those photos.

A new chapter a "donate" button and a premium as soon as the next chapter is done (tele adapter) early next week.

I'm planning on buying this exact camera in about a week.
Seeing these photos make me not want to wait any longer! :-D
