dunno if any of these qualify as art.. I'll let you all decide.

All pictures resized for web with minimal or no pp. #1 seems to be overtly sharpened for some reason. All shot with D70, #1/#3 sigma 10-20mm @10mm, #2and#4 sigma 50-500mm @500mm, #5 nikon 80-200mm @200mm. As usual, I did not crop them since I prefer framing while I shoot.

comments are welcome!

Hey Devendra,

Nice showing here -- I wasn't blown away by the first image, but the set just got better and better as I kept scrolling. It's not that the first image is poor, but the other images are more striking by comparison.

The subtle tones of the second and third are very nice, while the motion of the latter is really compelling. The more impressionistic rendering of the third shot adds a life to the scene that a perfectly crisp, frozen shot would lack. #3 is my pick.

I think the second shot could work well as a vertical with all its lovely layers, too, to create a contrast between the divisions of the frame and the orientation. As it is now, the various layers fill the long dimension of the frame, creating a slightly static feel.

The titled horizons of the second fourth shots bother me a little, though it's good to know that you prefer not to crop. I also prefer not to crop and enjoy that more holistic experience of making the shot.

Thanks,
Todd

Great colours and compositions. My only comment (other than straightening of the horizon, as mentioned by others) is the colour of the background on the second shot: it fades into purple a bit unpleasantly; or maybe it's just me...

Hey Devendra,

Nice showing here -- I wasn't blown away by the first image, but
i was experimenting the 10mm and just wanted to capture the fractal like effect for fun.

the light was way too low when I took the shot, at the same time I decided to take a chance of getting the composition right. I have another interesting shot where all (silhoutte) duckies are in motion in the sky, and then there is one, that is kinda sharp. I suspect that you may like it too:)

extremely well put. It will be extremely helpful if you can crop/highlight the verticle compositional area that you would like/prefer. I often get caught up in these horizontal vertical dilemmas that I end up taking one or the other shot due to zoom or additional foreground/background distraction. Your thoughts around this will be highly appreciated.

that is one thing that I was really tempted to correct. Maybe I will correct it in the final print (if i take one). This correction is highly debateable and I just cannot justify which side to take. I did see John Shaw complain in one old video that he did not like tilted landscapes, basically avoid them completely if one can. But then there are scenes like these that test that decision.
Thanks,
Todd
your thoughtful comments are highly appreciated.

thanks, and yes they are done in photoshop based off some actions. i just mooched them off epaperpress.com . its an informative site and you will be able to find them in the photoshop frames section. i just use whatever was available. as you will realize most are gallery and one is picture action.
Great pictures. I really like the matting and framing. Is that
done in photoshop?

as mentioned in my other post the tilt is indeed a bit bothersome, but I decided to leave it alone and I will most likely correct it for printing.

thank you for your wonderful comments and yes each one of them counts and is very much appreciated.

Regards,
-Devendra

Very nice series. Looks like tiny moon? in the upper left corner of the first one? The shot with the motion of birds is one I don't usualy like..but this one works.
Thanks for sharing Devendra
