Got a new laptop. Installed CS2 and Nikon View. Now when I open a raw file View shows up. Know this has been discussed but can not find thread and here I am sitting in a travel trailer down by Zion NP. All my info is 300 miles away at home. How do I keep View from showing up when I open a raw file from Bridge? Help appreciated. Thanks.

hello;

open bridge
edit> preferences
you get the " files type association"
look for NEF and choose CS2...

Happy New Year...:-)

Thanks, but that is not quite what I get. I get a list of file types but the only choice offered is "browse" and I do not seem to be able to change anything from there. I must have something else set up way wrong but from where I am I can not tell what.

Delete the Nikon NEF plug-in from your plug-in folder.

To use the Photoshop CS2 Adobe Camera Raw with Nikon NEF files when you ALSO have Nikon software installed you should remove (delete) the Nikon plug-in in Photoshop CS2.
If you do updates or reinstalls of Nikon software you will have to do it again.

Nikon View installed a file named Nikon Nef Plugin.8bi in a CS2 subdirectory. Here is the exact location.

C:\program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS2\File Formats

I would not delete the file, rather I just change the final letter in the extension. The nikon nef pluggin can be very helpful because sometime ACR gives you strange results. Yes, you can alter ACR to fix the color problems, but IMHO it is easier to use Nikon Nef.
