It is pretty reasonable, too - $79 US - with a free trial.

I have their equivalent product for my Canon 350XT. It makes a substantial improvement in prints - altho I have only used it with RAW. The free trial certainly convinced me it was worthwhile with the 350XT.

There is some question in my mind how much it will help the FZ30 since the lens is already very good indeed - whereas my Canon lenses are cheaper zooms.

But since the trial is free I suggest a serious FZ30 user has little to lose.

If you have not encountered DxO it is a European firm offering a variety of products - software - essentially mathematical in derivation. Apparently they test various lens/body combinations and devise a processing system which corrects lens errors. Luminous-landscape.com has a good bit of info on same.

This looks like a neat program if it weren't for the fact the demo keeps crashing on my Windows XP machine. Has anybody else had the same problem?

HI Neil I had the same problem with it when it was trying to load my main picture directory, I think it chokes on some sort of movie files. I moved all the unusual files out of that directory and now it loads and works fine. I still have to do some testing with it 1st to see if I do like it though

The program will run but has problems after selecting files to process. It looks for files on my f: drive which is my SD card reader, my G: drive which is my USB hard drive and finally my E: drive which is my CD - then it gives a file enumeration error and shuts down.

I put in a ticket and got an automated response that they would get back to me after Jan 3 because of the holidays. If I find out anything or get it fixed I will post the fix.

What a way to sell software especially since they just added the module for the FZ30!!

hold off on trying it myself and see if they can straighten it out.

It worked well with the Canon 350XT and lenses so I just assumed the one for the FZ30 would work - sorry about that !

DxO does seem to have a little problem with communication and interface - perhaps it is a language problem. A good example is that I can find no instruction manual for the "starter" program which is supposed to cover the FZ30.

After hearing of your bad results I am also afraid that installing the Starter program would contaminate my existing 3.5 program - they seem to say that the 3.5 CONTAINS the starter program - which is obviously not the case.

Also I can find no instruction manual for the starter program.

The starter program must be very different judging by the above comments that it was searching the computer for images. On the 3.5 program you TELL the program where to look for images and you have to LOAD images to work on.

They don't seem to communicate very clearly.

Sorry guys I should never have suggested before I had time to try it myself - just didn't occur to me the Starter program was different from the one I got.
