They "supposedly" had a used one in excellent condition for a price I couldn't pass up. Considerably lower than normal. So as to not look the gift horse in the mouth and knowing I could easily recover the price on ebay if for some reason I was dissatisfied I bought it. THAT unfortunately was 12-16-2005. No sign of shipment nor email as such. The order remains "open" per Adorama and of the 2 emails sent one had a reply "will forward to the used dept" and a suggestion to call. The item was removed from the site. I've dealt with them in the distant past and never had any problems. Lately I am definitely NOT HAPPY with them. Sneaky suspicion is that it was sold under me......... which really is annoying considering I work retail and would take my lumps rather than screw a customer who was first. And what really bothers me is they expect ME to call THEM to inform me I got ripped off. Won't buy holiday excuses either. They had plenty of time. I tried not to post this due to my anger but oh well............ one good turn deserves another.

Exact same scenario with me in October and an unbelievable deal on an FA* 300/4.5 (for something like $400 in "Excellent" shape)...only to find out a month later that they "withdrew the lens from sale because it didn't meet our quality standards." Ha ha, I laughed at the face of that one.

So I bought a silver 77 from B&H.

Similar situation here with Adorama. Ordered my kit lens from them, it was lost on the way by Adorama/UPS and had to re-order one and it didn't come until about one and half month later. And three months since I first ordered, I am still waiting for my refund to the first lens.

Was just working on about a $900 order from Adorama.....Cancelled and will go back to B&H....I don't need the hassle of dealing with jerks.

Hi All,

I had a little strangeness with them recently also -- placed an order from their used dept for a lens -- it arrived on time, but in Nikon mount instread of the stated Pentax KA. The condition was a little less than I had anticipated also, unlike my dealings with KEH.

I must say that they resolved the problem without a hitch, e-mailed a UPS return label within minutes of my phone call -- so no return shipping charges, and received a check for the original amt including shipping in @ a week.

I just have to wonder how accurate their other descriptions are, including condition????

I have successfully ordered from them in the past, and probably will again, but I'll probably be a little gunshy from here on in.

Firework Top Ten Safety Code

Young people should watch and enjoy fireworks at a safe distance and follow the safety rules for using sparklers. Only adults should deal with firework displays and the lighting of fireworks. They should also take care of the safe disposal of fireworks once they have been used.

1. Plan your firework display to make it safe and enjoyable.
2. Keep fireworks in a closed box and use them one at a time.
3. Read and follow the instructions on each firework using a torch if necessary.
4. Light the firework at arm's length with a taper and stand well back.
5. Keep naked flames, including cigarettes, away from fireworks.
6. Never return to a firework once it has been lit.
7. Don't put fireworks in pockets and never throw them.
8. Direct any rocket fireworks well away from spectators.
9. Never use paraffin or petrol on a bonfire.

10. Make sure that the fire is out and surroundings are made safe before leaving.

Pets

Animals do not like bonfires or fireworks. The flames and noise upsets them. They should always be kept safely indoors. Make sure that they cannot get out through open windows and doors. It is best to keep the curtains closed too and it may be necessary to keep them indoors for several nights around New Years Eve

That's how I got my 28-105 about 3 months ago. Someone had bough it on-line but I was in the Adorama store & bought it on the spot & they gave it to me. At that time they were (probably still are) very hard to find.

Now if I could only find the Tokina ATX 80-400 somewhere....

I had a much different experience with them. I saw a lens I wanted so I ordered it. It was shipped out the next day, and when it arrived it was damaged. I called them and they sent a return label. I sent it back and I received a phone call that the lens was no longer in stock. I was a bit upset, but they came through by putting me on the list for the lens and gave me a nice discount when it came in. I have never had a bad experience with them.

Hi Manuel!
Now if I could only find the Tokina ATX 80-400 somewhere....
There should be one by a trustworthy Canadian/Chinese seller in an ebay shop. Was put online today or yesterday.

Cheers

Well I unexpectedly got a call from Adorama today informing me that it turned out my lens has some scratches on it so they pulled it (actually he didn't tell me what he did with it) :(

Had the option to close the order or he offerred a few different lenses like the D-FA 50 for normal retail. I declined.

They were supposed to get some "demo" lenses from Pentax (intrigueing if true) so I held my order open. Won't charge my card and it will buy me some "thinking room". Will keep you informed.

I always suspected Adorama and BH were the same place, or at least somehow connected (owned by the same people?)...

Firstly their checkout system is remarkably similar, ok so that could just be the same software... But for overseas buyers they both require you to fax a copy of your credit card to them the first time you use a new card...

I had ordered and done that with BHphoto, and then since then I had an account at BH so didn't need to do it again... Then a few months back I placed my first order at Adorama with that same credit card (and same home address obviously)... They told me in the invoice email that I would have to email their verification address like I did from BH.. But before I got a chance to do that I got an email from them saying they had my details on file and they were shipping the lens to me? I emailed to ask how they had my details? but got not response, my lens did however arrive within a few days!!!

Good question but I doubt it. Some co-operation may occur between them. And maybe "sharing" a web database is one area.

I think we've confirmed that they're full of it in this case. Whomever they sold your lens to must have returned it, or else they're trying to meet the year's numbers.

In any case, I'm much more offended by the lying - in your case the 'scratches', in mine the 'not up to standards' - than I am by them selling my item.
If I were you, I'd boycott them on principle alone.

I know, this is a tough call but I'm easily bought :) Anyways at work my boss

wanted to sell some "stuff" on ebay and I told him that I wouldn't sell the merchandise unless he pulled it from the store first. He declined and I did as well. In our case the odds were slim that what may have happened to our lenses would happen to our store merchandise but I didn't want to take that chance........... Us Northcental US people are just that way :)

I know but not any where near the same price....even the "excellent" one Thats the catch and the likely reason I may have "lost" the first one........

Adorama is shipping the DA 50. At least that's what they said today. Took awhile but they honored the purchase. Will report when it gets here.
