Today is a bittersweet moment for me. After 4.5 years of capturing wonderful memories of my three kids, I am officially retiring my trusty and fun to use dsc-s85. From the births of my children, to countless parties, and Disney trips, the s85 has always been there ready to capture each moment. But alas, it is showing its age and has attracted some unsightly battle scars especially on the LCD. It definitely looks tired and beat up. Furthermore, the latest pictures we took came out blurry, somewhat noisy and not as sharp. Of course some fault can be placed on the user, but the time was just ripe for a worthy replacement.

Well after surfing this site and others for countless days and hours, I finally went out and purchased the H1. Like many, I couldn’t decide between the S2 and the H1. It was definitely a see-saw battle between the two cameras. In the end, I ultimately decided on the H1 because of the following: a) It takes slightly better pictures, b) Build quality is A+ and it feels better when handled, c) It is very easy and fun to use, and of course, d) Alan’s White Paper support.

Well, there you have it, out with the old and in with the new. So please welcome a new H1 owner to this super site. Hopefully in due time I will learn how to use the camera to its full potential and then post some gorgeous pictures as well.

So, to all you H1 owners, I thank you for all your influence and insight regarding this amazing camera.

Warm regards,

--Jules

Congrats on the purchase! You'll definitely be happy with it :)

Sony H1, planning on a D50

You know of course that all H1 users are "required" to post a duck picture to become an official member. ;-)

Merry Christmas!

Take the scenic route! Life is too short to do otherwise.

Me, too!!! Ugh! I live in the desert and have a very hard time finding ducks. I keep hoping Giant Sagauro cacti will count, but I have been told no. I will have to go to some restaurant that serves duck and take pictures of that... I guess that might not be appreciated by the animal lovers. Sorry. I am at a loss, as I have no duck readily available. There must be a substitute, please.

BTW, I know you will enjoy the camera. It is quite remarkable for a non-DSLR.
