I have followed the instructions to the letter. I even got my wife to do the same. I have loaded my memory card with the latest update but when I hold down 'MENU' and press 'ON' and continue to hold 'MENU' I see the version 1.01 but it won't allow me to perform the update. I even continued to hold the 'MENU' button down until the camera turned it self off.

What am I doing wrong?

I had the same problem. Try it again. Turn off. Then, the same commands. It worked for me the 3rd try.

I´´ll tell you what I did:

1- Put the camera WITH the memory stick inside in your USB craddle and connect it with the pc. Then go to my computer and find the casio z750 and double click. In there you should copy the firmwareupdate file (the one ending with .bin).... remember to extract it from the one you downloaded.

2- Remove the camera fromt the craddle

3- Press and hold MENU and then press Power On WHILE still pressing the MENU button.
-----> it should then ask you if you want to update

Hope that works! It did for me.

I don't believe it. The new firmware is safely on the memory card but I can not get into the camera.

I press and hold the 'MENU' button then press the 'ON' whilst still holding the 'MENU' down.

The message ' Ver 1.01 ' appears then I wait and wait then the camera comes on then it goes off after 1 minute. I never get the 'Update Program' message.

What on earth is wrong with my camera?

Help!

Either you didn't extract the file first (the one you downloaded is compressed), or you didn't put it in the root directory (not inside the DCIM directory, but next to it in the root). The name of the extracted file should be EX-750.BIN

The correct file is there but what I can't get is the 'Program Update' screen.

I hold the menu down , switch on whilst still holding the menu button down and the Ver 1.01 appears then the camera turns on and eventually turns off.

It never displays ' Program Update'

Dave, try this:

1. Remove memory card from camera
2. Put camera in cradle and connect to PC
3. Click EX-Z750_102.exe on your computer to extract the firmware upgrade file

4. Copy extracted EX-Z750.bin file to the root of your camera's internal memory (not in a folder)
5. Remove camera from cradle

6. With camera off, hold down menu button and press power (do not release menu button) > upgrade prompt should appear.

Hope you made a mistake in one of these steps and that this will work for you.

Good luck,

Robert

I can appreciate your unhappiness since i almost had the same problem. Note the :almost". I loaded the UNZIPPED file onto the card and was about to insert it into the camera when I read one of your earlier postings on this problem. I then doubleclicked the icon on my screen, and it created the unzipped file. I re-formated the memory card. Moved the program to the card (via the card reader) and held down the menu button while I pressed and HELD DOWN the on/off button. Of course, nothing happed. I then tried doing it the right way, holding down the menu button and pressed and released the on/off button and it worked just great. However, i am not sure it was worth the trouble but I find it hard to believe that Casio just wanted to give the 750 one more scene. Must be more to it.

I just update mine and took less than 2 minute

You can extract a bin file to your local drive (desktop is fine), copy that bin file to your SD memory ( My PC has SD slot, so it's easy for me). You can put your SD in memory reader and transfer the file

put your SD card back to the camera, Hold power button and menu at the same time. folllow the instruction on the screen

Hope this help

The camera is not supposed to display the "Program Update" screen unless it finds a proper bin file in the root directory of the SD card (or the root of the internal memory if there is no SD card). Your camera sounds like it is behaving properly. But it sounds like you have either put to wrong file on the SD card, or put the bin file in the wrong location.

Are you sure you downloaded the right file?

Did you upgrade, months ago, to 1.01? Maybe you left the old 1.01 bin file lying around and that's the one you copied to your SD card.

If the old 1.01 update was left on card or in camera every time you ck update it would ask you if you wanted to update. I think you have the same thing that happened to me and that I had not unzipped the file. I was able to do this with the camera right on the cradle I just double click the file and unzipped it and it worked if it works just remember to delete the file so the camera dose not ask you every time you ck version if you want to update.

PS I am a computer dummy and get really lost! Just keep trying! I can not remember how I updated the 1st time but it was not the same as this time but got it right. So keep us posted they are all great hear and will always go out of there way to help you out!

Why are you loading it to your SD card? Just leave your SD card in, but simply load it into the camera's internal memory just as in the insturctions on the casio site. I got mine updated very fast.

Thanks everyone. I will try again tonight when I get back home. I hardly think it will be worth it but maybe 'other' things/settings have been updated.

I went out late last night and tried some 60 second night shots. Wow I am impressed. We had a full moon here in Cornwall, UK and clear skies and the colour reproduction of the garden was amazing. I guess I'll have to sign up with some on-line photo storage site to show them on here.

Cheers for now

If you turn your Mode wheel to 'M' which enters the manual mode. You can adjust the shutter delay(speed) to a max of 60 seconds.

Then you need to put the camera on a tripod or a something solid and turn the self timer on to either 2 or 10 secs and press the shutter and wait

It's amazing how long 60 seconds is!! But it is well worth the wait for excellent night time pictures

BTW Dave, for a 60 sec exposure you don't even need the delayed 2 or 10 sec. exposure since the possible shake when you depress the shutter is insignificant versus the 60 sec exposure. Tripod (or equivalent) is of course mandatory as you said.

Also, if you decide to use a paid service for storing your photos, may I suggest Pbase, a standard of excellence.
