I've been a loyal member of this forum for quite some time but only got around uploading some photos on the web

I've only uploaded three but I will put up some more when I get the time to do so.

I'm not that good in photography but I'm learning more and more things, especially from this forum .... so I hope I'll get there one day ...

Check'em out .... any comments or critics are welcomed ...

Nice start Henry, the compass shot is very interesting. I also have taken some bird shots but they are very small and difficult to get right. Keep going.
I also set up an album this week.

Any comments?

Hi,

I like the shots, can I suggest you try capturing movement of birds next time? - the shots you have are cool but to capture colourful birds flying would be amazing.

I have also set up my first album, check it out

Keep it up

Regards

Phil Hunton

I like all of them; but, Sidney, Bearing and Take off are my favorites.

One of the severests critizisms in the past of my work is that I'm a fine technical photographer (translate that to: I get the exposure correct and hold still but no artistic skill). The Bearing photo shows good techinque and artistic skill combined for a fine photo.

I hope you and many others will; Please keep posting and maybe the artistic part will rub off to some degree.

Thank's for your comment Richard .... very encouraging ....
I really like your album ... looks very sleek .....

That shot of the storm jayne is pretty cool .... I also see that you've utilised the 5 shot burst feature really well in the tennis shots ...

That fujinikkon combo thing is cool ... I might try that my self. I have a Nikon binocular, maybe it works ... we'll see ....

Thank's for your comment ...

I checked out your gallery ...... wow ..... are you a professional photographer? It sure looks like you've got a lot of experience.

Dear, RJNedimyer

Thank's for your comment.....

I'm very new to photography and a lot of the skills that I've got for now, actually comes from people like you, people who are willing to share in this forum. ....so thank's a lot ....

I realise that sometimes a nice photo comes with luck and moreover, sometimes they get composed without much planning at all.

That shot of the compass that you saw in my gallery is a good example of what a good camera (69er .. =) and a bit of luck can do.

I was out camping at the Royal National Park (australia), and the shot was taken just outside my tent.... I was determining the bearings for the direction of the second camp site I was going to and happen to have my camera just next to me, .... put the camera in Apreture priority, clicked the macro button, ... took a deep breath and exhaled 1/3 of it (like most proffesionals in this forum suggest) and SNNAAAAPPPP !!!!

Henry it does work with a pair of binoculars but you need 3 hands ;-)
Thanks for the encouragement.
Incidently as your interested in bird photos, I thought I'd share a tip.

Use the 6m mode with fine compression at full6X zoom at a shutter speed that will ensure a crisp picture then you'll be surprized how much you can magnify up in photoshop to get a clear 1280x960 image.
