Hello!

Well, there is a VERY basic photo-editing software called "photoimpression", then there is something called the "SDviewer", then again there is something called "Photobase"... Now what I don't understand is that what was the necessity of having so many separate program when adding them together accomplishes so little..

Another prob, for which I need someone to suggest a solution is : "how do I UPDATE or SYNCHRONIZE the images between my PC and the Camera/SD card...coz every time I slide in my Sandisk Ultra or connect my camera to the PC, whatever option I get the images are added ALL OVER AGAIN - it doesn't even prompt with the warning that I might be making a duplicate - if there is a P001 then the software simply creates a P001(1) !

I previously owned a simple basic Kodak CX7300 and the small piece of software did all that the panasonic software does and transfering was simple with "One-touch transfer" .... can somebody tell me how to get past this problem? Did I overlook something simple?

thx.

The software is worthless. The only include it to make the package look more exciting. Anyone that has ever bought a digital camera knows that 9 times out of 10 the included software is a joke and you don't bother with it. The only exception that I know of is when they include Adobe Photoshop Elements.

Even the software that came with my Canon 20D before I sold it was a joke. You are always better off trying out third party software and then buying the program you like the best.

There is a reason it was free with the camera and it isn't because it is good or useful. Panasonic so far seems to be the worst as far as the poor software they include. At least most others include Adobe Photoshop Elements.

My choice of software is Adobe Photoshop CS2 with the latest Adobe Camera Raw. If you don't want to spend that kind of money then go for Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0, it is great software for the money.

Actually, you need to delete the copied photo files on your SD card. Otherwise, you'll soon find that you have no more memory for new photos.

If the software you're using doesn't remind you or offer a way to delete the files on the memory card, use the PC's file manager to locate the memory card and delete the files on it when you're finished transferring/copying them to your PC hard drive.

If you like Kodak easyshare, get the latest version and use it, I did for quite a while, because I was accustom to how it worked.( I also came from a kodak) but unlike most people I do not like software that wants to make an album out of my photos, so I quit using it.

Just trying to learn and it's slow going!

Actually, I'm still using Nikon View, that came with my, now sold,
Nikon Coolpix 3100. If I take a series of shots when conditions are
difficult, to hopefully get at least one good one, Nikon View is
easier to use than windows xp or photoshop cs for sorting out the
sharpest/best photo. But I'm sure there is better software, also
free, that does the same thing better, but I haven't bothered
to look for it.

One funny coincidence is that on the box of Elements 4, there is
a camera ... the FZ3!!! So one would have thought that there was
some kind of cooperation between Adobe and Panny here, but no.

I got Elements with the Coolpix, was one reason I chose it.
Other programs that are also good is the Gimp (free) and
PSP X, not much more expensive than Elements but almost
as powerful as PS CS, they say.
