Hi, I'm thinking about getting Canon 13x18" printer. I see that i9900 has been around for a couple of years (correct?), so can anybody more accustomed to Canon product cycles make an educated guess when a newer one could be announced?

I'd hate to buy i9900 and see a better one announced in a month!

Thanks!

I seem to recall someone mentioned new printers being released in February, same time as new cameras are announced. I could be wrong but I'm going to forego buying a printer till then.

Cheers

I'm with you.

I currently use a i9900, but started selling prints and need a printer that uses archival ink. For now, I'm using a local lab, but it's too much work to get them to print "properly". I found a great lab, but as good a they are, to date, I haven't been able to drop off an order and get all the prints without adjustments.

I've tested MANY on-line and local labs, and just can't find anyone that can print as well as my i9900 and QImage combo.

I asked myself the same question about six months ago as I had heard about a i9910 (i990/i9950 with new inks) being available in Japan. So I aksed Canon CPS and they checked with their printer department. The answer then was that such a new printer would not be introduced in 2005 anymore.

I guess that means something new is coming up in 2006. When? Well, mostly such items are introduced either at a PMA (usually february) or PhotoKina (autumn). So if you can wait, you may wait for the PMA.

CAnon will be coming out with a new printer that will have 10 ink cartridges that will blow everything else away. A Canon rep said to keep this somewhat quiet but it's getting close so letting the news out won't be that big of a deal.

Thanks for the info. I can easily wait till PMA. If no new printer will be announced then, I'll probably will get the 9900.
