Thank you for posting this. These pics confirm my concerns with the hi-iso performance of the D200. To my eyes, I do not see any advantage over the D2x. The noise reduction look a lot like the D50 but is much more obvious (and much more intrusive). I was expecting the D200 to perform significantly better than the D2 at iso 1600 and 3200 but from the pics posted so far it's hard for me to give it any clear advantage, despite the bigger pixels.

doesn't it seem funny to you that no cameras have been availlable to the US for inspection. all these ISOLATED online "FINDINGS" associated with the D200 from all over the globe
yet...
no one in this country is reporting anything substantial
another internet hoax?
very likely, i'd say

In the text they say that they are impressed with the result. They also writes that if you downsample to the size of D2H or D2HS, D200 easily is better.

If you PP these with curves and sharpening in Photoshop the end result is IMO filmlike and more pleasant than most other 3200 shots. I also think the saturation is good (after curves) for such high ISOs.

This is no hoax. If you check the testblog you can see that they have had a production D200 for some days now.

You mean it's difficult to believe that they are releasing test units in other parts of the planet when the centre of the universe( i.e. North America) has to wait a little bit longer....

Unbelievable....almost like that dirty hoax a while ago when someone had the audacity to claim that the D200 was being tested in Argentina of all obscure places...

You shouldn't believe. It couldn't possible be true.

my point is if they have had a production camera for days.....
then why aren't there any in the states?

i NEVER said that the US was more important, but.... certainly NIKON stands to sell plenty in the US
so..... why no production camera here
please don't put words into my mouth
you have to admit that it seems kind of weird

Its worse than I expected, but its still early. Wait for phils tests, and for god's sake, stop plugging the 20D (or any canon camera) here.

A good idea is to not mention Canon here unless a regular member here opens up a discussion about them.

Europe is the largest DSLR market.. USA doesn't have the same buying power anymore to compete with them.. so we would have to wait our turn.. popular consensus is Dec 15th.

If this is true of higher ISO performance, I need to rethink my options.
I do a lot of low light work, the D200 would not be a good choice for this.

MY pre-order is on the first shipment.

However, later it was found that the camera was actually tested in the Patagonia and other parts of Argentina. So for your records, it was true. (The sample pix of Argentina in Nikon's website later also confirmed so).

On the site of the swedish magazine Kamera&Bild they test high ISOs
of the D200 under though real life conditions - a game of girls
handball in a dimly lit indoor arena. Overall they are very pleased
with the noise and AF-performance. Sample photos shot at ISO 2500
and 3200. Jpegs with NR set to normal.

The funny thing about this is that the editors text is very positive about the results, yet many people here directly jump to negative conclusions. This is the best magazine about digital cameras in Sweden. They have shot hundreds of photos with the camera at all ISOs. In the last issue they tested the Canon 5D , they do have references. I suggest everyone wait for complete tests before they make any judgements.

hahah .. relax PerL.. people here are capable of forming their own conclusions after seeing images.. it's not that difficult that they need some magazine's commentary to understand.. afterall Pop Photo still declares D2x/D50 the low light leaders of 2005 .. u just can't believe everything magazines editorialize.. but pictures are worth a thousand words.

... tested on their highly rated photo magazine "Chasseur d'Images". So, it seems that USA is lagging on this camera... don't worry about it.

Well, I kind of regret that I posted this - in very short time we will have many complete tests and reviews that will clear up all question marks.

you used some irony there - you stand the risk of being misunderstood by a large population of this forum. : ))
