Honnestly, if you ever looked at their photographs, both of them are not what I would consider as great photographers.

And their software has been stuck in beta version for almost a year now.

Why the love fest.

Since you seem hellbent to respond to my simple questions with more convoluted questions therefore dodging the answers, the only thing left for me to do is point out a few cogent points that leave you no room to argue and/or twist the meaning.

1. They broke the rules and were banned.

2. The interpretation and enforcement of those rules is at the sole discretion of the rules maker.

3. I didn't make the rules.

4. I truly don't care one way or the other.

Since you also seem hellbent to argue with the rules and the enforcement of same, selective or not, and I have nothing to do with them, this conversation is a waste of my time. I'm married with children -- I get all the irrational arguments I care to handle right here at home. Thanks for the reminder of why I quit getting involved in these conversations in this forum long ago.

Hi Steve,

That is what Phil would like us to believe,

However it simply is NOT true.

Go over to the Pentax SLR forum and search for Lance B banned.

He was banned, there was a thread asking him to be unbanned it got to 150 in n o time, Lance B was back in LESS THAN 20 HOURS!!

The long threads, yes there was more than one absolutely bagged Phil and how he had madea serious mistake.

Lance B's offence he dropped the F word AND threatened posters.

The rules are NOT applied equally, are they.

Nough said.
 
Julia is Iliah's daughter however after the banning Iliah used her id for a while. I have identified his and her writing style. In the RML beta forum Julia is now pursuing her own interests profiling monitors and printers. Until I meet her face to face I may never know whether she is an alter ego.

When I get a response that answers a question with another question I am sure it is Iliah.

Makes it kind of fun to correspond with those flolks.

I don't think it's always about how great are your photos. The point is, they really added knowledge. I learned sooo much from their conversations having to do with color that it's not even funny. I actually have seen Peter win a photo contest to tell you the truth. I haven't seen you win one though.

Hell, I'd motivate them to start their own site. There are at least 10 people in this thread alone that would immediately visit, and pass the word that it exists.

People gravitate towards pleasant experiences [except for attorneys, and dentists, and psychologists, but thats another thread], and every time I'm ever hear to read a thread, it invariably ends up a peeing for distance contest. shrug

I've ASKED to get my account deleted, being banned should not drum up this much noise.

Did the guys who started Nikonians get banned? I think I remember seeing a couple of adverts for a competing site here back many moons.

This website receives how many posts per day! There are over a dozen and a half of forums. Do you think Phil is reading the Nikon D50/D70 thread? I will answer that--- No. Why would he?

Post your thread in the open forum if you wish to receive an answer or at least chance for your intentions to be properly read.

You seem to think that I am in some way defending them I have not made any comment on how their behabvior relates to the rules. That is an assumsion on your part.

I Just stated that what they did is no different from anyone else talking about a commercial product, including Nikon or adobe etc products that is all "free advertising" for thos companies. You were saying that they were advertisoing cause they talked about a commercial product. but conveniently ignore all the other commercial products when you make those kinds of statements - that is a bigoted view of a certain aspect of life one rule for one group or category and another for other group or classes of thing, people etc.

You really dont like letting the facts get in the way of a good story do you? I have not been arguing with anything - just pointing out irrational and illogical atatements on your part. I can see that you have had lots of irrational arguement practice, you are very good at it. Try calming down and stop being so emotional about things you might even learn something

in this thread, he started one about a year ago asking for Iliah and Peter to be "unbanned". That request appears to have fallen on deaf ears.

Whether we like it or not, this is Phil's house and is subject to his rules. Are the rules enforced unevenly? Yes, I think they are.

Now to the real question: Would I like to see Iliah and Peter reinstated? Absolutely yes! I have learned a lot from Iliah in particular and miss his contributions to these fora.

I understand your point better, but I still think that it paints a "darker" picture - so to speak - of what truely is at stake here.

I'll start with the rules. IMHO money is not the only concern. Can you imagine this forum in these days of migration from the D70 to the D200 every D70 owner with a camera to sell was advertising his stuff ? What if there is an argument between a seller and a buyer ?

I take your point that this site needs funding to run, and the funds are provided by advertisement. Let's keep the picture in perspective - pun intended - Iliah made mention of RawMagick's software in response to a technical question He shouldn't have because it breaks the rule. But there is a world of difference between this and using the forum as an advertisement platform, and "stealing" from the site. So, no, in my view the comparison you've made is not relevant.

In any case, the practical answer to this debate is very simple:
  • Iliah & Peter know what is allowed
  • Phil can still ban them again if they do not act accordingly
Also, the forum has more impact - and more traffic and more potential revenue from advertising - with people with Iliah's experience posting here. So it the benefice of stopping the ban is beneficial both ways: to the banned and to Phil Askey himself. Nothing wrong with that.

He does. I know of one other person (and there are more) that was unbanned via this method.
