Homeless Take Great Pichas!

Maybe some like to sift through the forest for important
information or sit and watch everyones family matters, or find out
how to scam the next Sears salesperson -- or spam STF with boring
stuff--- but I don't.
And that's okay. It isn't my favorite part either, but it seems to be what the STF is all about. Sometimes good, sometimes inspiring , sometimes boring, sometimes educational, and sometimes funny. However, "I" still find it "disturbing" when individuals choose to denigrate the interests or opinions of others. Clearly, my problem and not intended as personal attack.

He works hard day and night Dominic to keep that web page up--it is his mindset of what he's about--very tasteless and troublesome--which is spam and not what STF is about.

Hey Zipper,
I Love your web page!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Job

All MAC wants is some people to take their time and really take some nice photos. I don't think that is much to ask. I think his trying to say there is nothing wrong with testing your cameras or taking candids, but at least choose carefully what you show.

MAC has been a good part of STF and has defended the 707 where no one else has. But he has also shown some intelligence in knowing there are problems that need to be solved about the 707. And the only way to solve and help users are to post the best they can do to show the full capability of the camera. I don't think this is too much to ask for.

I think when you show your photos to the world shouldn't it be your very best? Kinda like going to a nice resturant in your underwear. Plus other forums are looking in STF for anything they can laugh at. So your best foot first.

Rich,

Yes--I see you sometimes find it boring as well -- lately though--I've been sifting through too much boring stuff ---IMO --no learning value for me or IMO the forum---- so maybe we're talking semantics--- but hey---this is America and I receive hundreds of unwanted e-mails each week--weeding through the shaft to get to the heart--the principle--all I ask is the quality of the posts improve--no intent to denigrate others with such a message.

But we are at the beginning of a new camera release curve. People are starved for any shots from this new member of the Sony family and those with the camera have been more than generous to take even more time to share them.

Not sure what new problem the 707 has that can actually be solved. CA is not a problem which can be solved. Red is not a new problem.

By definition, their first picture is their very best.
Kinda like going to a nice resturant in your underwear.

Seriously, I've enjoyed many of your Gallery posts but it is going to take time for the cream of the F707 to rise to the top. For now I only hope Sears gets their customers their cameras by Friday. ;-)

I'm afraid it might be awhile. This 707 is generating a lot of interest. ;-)

I didn't mean he was the only one. But the only one stubborn enough to give me headaches.
Yup I know Ted, your right about being starved for images.

Red saturation can be solved :) just slightly underexpose your shots then doing levels in PS.

Well, the artist will be calling you Ted for his next show. $200 -- well not sure-- Not sure I'd hang it on my wall, "but I learn from your pichas and posts."

MAC
Some people feel compelled to post about their experiences with
Sears, others feel they need to post about people who post about
their experiences with Sears. ;-)

In any case, you will find that many people who currently own F707s
are hard working family people who may have more money than time
(or is it just less time than money). What else do you expect us
working parents to shoot?

In closing, I'd like to help out with my contribution to learning...

A local artist gave several Homeless people disposable cameras and
told them to go out and take "great pichas" of their lives! As a
reward he gave them clothes, food and some cash. Only
condition--in the end, the pichas belonged to him. One week later
they returned the disposable cameras and he took their best shots
and had a photo art show. These homeless people shot things many
had never seen--areas of the town no one knew existed; faces and
looks that will not be forgotten; happiness, dispare, depression,
crack houses, homeless faces, soup kitchens -- "great pichas" with
disposable cameras---stuff that was very interesting in the art
exhibit.

What I'm seeing in these 707 postings on this forum is everyday,
ordinary mom and pa photos and talk -- everyday scenes -- boring
stuff -- no learning -- sears, Sears, Sears, no learning.

Would like to suggest you let the homeless borrow your 707's---ha
-- they'll do better --- come on folks -- "take some interesting
pichas"......not just interesting to you----but interesting to the
rest of us...talk about learning.....not this everyday stuff...use
your forum to its best.....would you please!

Ditto.....the STF and other forums looking in should be seeing underwear. Larry makes the point better than me. Good night to all and God Bless.

Hey, mac, why don't you take this discussion to the "Homeless Take Great Pichas" Forum?

I thought this was the Sony forum--did any of those homeless people have a disposable Sony Camera??

Me thinks you are a pot stirer, Sir Mac!!

Does anyone know where on the web we can see some of these pictures taken by the homeless?

The homeless exhibition story was inspiring, and yes many of us are guity of taking boring pictures, but we're not taking pictures with a exhibition in mind. I'm sure if anyone in this group were asked to submit pictures to a exhibition, they would put far more effort into their pictures than normal.

Anyway, spam, huh?

is unsettled with all of this ......... extra........well I'll go
ahead and say it......spam.

Everyone should take "pichas" of what they are. And chat when they
want. Some of yours Tracey I have learned from--red soccer shirt
for example. I just wish folks would point to one jpg --instead of
album---and say this is what I have to say, this is what I did to
get the shot and this is what I think I learned and what do you
think? Give me advise on How can I get better. I joined the
forum to learn new things but feel sometimes it is not worth
digging through the unimportant information... and attacks.... and
overload....to get the information. No personal reference to your
posts intended in the above. Enjoy your camera.
Okay, below is my picture, and here's what I learned making it: masking in Photoshop is a slow, tedious process, but it can be well worth your time. To get the shot, I learned how to use my camera, and what it will or won't tolerate, then got a good exposure to work with. Made the background layer sepia, but made new layers for the blue patch, for the feet, and for the beak. Masked away all the background pixels in my new layers, until I got what you see below.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Sorry, though, it's not a 707.

The artist did not post them on the web but they were the caliber of the following:

Your point is not spam, not boring -- my point was that if each of us were given the chance to go visit someone we don't know to watch their pictures of their everyday life--would we go -- I wouldn't -- so just asking forum users to post links to their good stuff where a point is being made--then we'll be in a better learning mode--also chatting about things worth chatting about--this is what brought most of us here--at least I hope---and therefore we will not have to sift through the worthless stuff.....

A pot stirer can be good Rootie Kazootie (Wow!--where did that name come from?) , to have an overall effect of improving things--I don't care for spam from the pot! I presume most do not either.
