I'm looking for a fast (2.8) zoom lenses more or less in this zoom range, which ones are my best choices to shoot portaits? what about other brands like sigma or tamron? I want sharp pictures, other features are not so important for me.

If bokeh and other such features aren't very important, then i would highly recomend the nikon 35-70 2.8 or the tamron 28-75 2.8. Both are very sharp and very nicely priced.

I am really sold on the quality, color, sharpness, and bokeh of the Sigma 24-60 f/2.8 EX DG

I don't know if 60 (35mm = 90mm) is enough distance for you, but it is a minor difference over the 70.

The pics I have seen from it, its gives the primes a really good run for its money.

Excellent quality, build is so-so, focus is so-so, they put all the $$$$$$ into the optics..
