New softcase for G2 - where to buy

In the dpreview of the G2 on the accessories page (page 3 I think?), there is a slick looking new softcase for the G2. It is the SC-PS700. It's not mentioned on the Canon website nor can I find it on any of the camera reseller's websites either. It looks really nice. It has a pocket for extra CF card and other things. Does anyone know if this softcase will be offered in the US or where I can get one? I'll call Canon next week and see if they have anything to say.

I was just about to post the same question. A web search turned up nothing in the US, apparently Canon USA has decided to sell the hard leather case instead. I saw mention of the 700 case on some German and Japanese sites (which I can't read ;.)). I was wondering if perhaps this means the case is available outside the US. If so perhaps we can make arrangements to buy either through a dealer or with aid of fellow forum members.

Henrys.com has a soft case that looks like the one in the review (but no Canon part number on it) I've ordered from them in the past and have been very pleased. They're in Canada but ship to the US.

Doing a Google search brough up the Canon Japan site:

The case is listed with a note to contact your local Canon subsidiary about availability. So, it sounds like it may only be offered in certain countries.

I also saw it listed on the Canon Denmark site.

I was also browsing the US site, and found this:

It appears that they have a slightly different product in the US market (PSC2000).

Ed, that bag is perfect for my needs- ie, just large enough to hold camera and a memory card yet very light, small and capable of being worn on your belt or over your shoulder.

If we can't get this one, does anyone know of a bag with similar characteristics. I hate carrying anything- but love the G2 (if Dell ever sends it to me).

I'd like to suggest the camera bag that I have. It fits the G2 with the Lensmate adapter installed in one section, the 420EX flash and two filter cases in the second compartment, and the power cords in the third. The 'compartments' are really made by two padded walls that can be removed, repositioned in any way, and Velcro'ed securely in place.

It has a small mesh pocket in the inside top of the bag where I put two flash card cases and the remote. Finally, there is a pocket in the front where I store up to two batteries and the ZiO card reader with a little room to spare.

All this in an aprox. 9x6x5 attractive looking Canon bag. There is also one that is about the same size but has two additional pockets on the outside, sides of the bag.

In addition to the removable shoulder strap, there is a belt loop (that tucks away nicely when not in use) but can be used to carry on your waist.

The one I have was about $35.00 US. It's called the Canon Deluxe Gadget Bag 100 EG

It looks like G2 might fit with lensmate attached.

I don't have it, but have seen it, and the camera in it had a Lensmate attached, it fit fine. I just didn't like the bag, It's hard leather, it's brown (?!), and it works like an SLR case. My preference is for something amybe sorta shock resistant and weather resistant, that the camera slips easily out of. I figure the canera and case will spend more time traveling in something than hanging around my neck, and when I shoot, I prefer a naked (oooh!) camera.
