Feisol 3401 Center Mount Column Kit Comments

Bryan,

I bought mine from Threshold Concepts -- when I had a couple of questions (submitted by email), they called me, and straightened things out. Nice people to deal with.

...It'll be easier to deal with if the dealer within the country!

I got the CB-50H Ballhead and the base has a slightly movement when the big knob is tightened. I call them and they direct me to send it back for replacement. I just sent it out today, shipping with insurance $12.20.

But if they don't find the movement as I claimed, they will send the same unit back to me. and this is what I'm afraid the most.

Should I get a refund and get the Kirk BH-3 instead?? I heard lots of people getting their tripod but few for the ballhead.

I don't like the Feisol ballhead because it doesn't give you 90-degree angle and you have to do it manually, and it doesn't have a built in spirit level.

tighten them up under the ballhead, I had the same problem.

The side knob is bad.

The screws evenntually loosen up a little and that is what gives you the 1/8" shift/wiggle.

What is really needed...is some screw glue.

The guy at Threshold Concepts called me not long after I posted and he told me that they found the problem and would send me a replacement the same day. so if I get a brand new ballhead that does not have the shift to begin with, do you think the screw will still loosen in the end?

That is a good question...

After two weeks of owning the CB-50H, even when the pan knob was locked, it would shift back and forth a little. I e-mailed Feisol and Orion Chang replied asking me to send it back.

I noticed the screws underneath were a quarter turn loose. I decided to tighten them and see.

It worked...but now 6 weeks later I notice a little shift with loose screws again.

I know I can lock-tite (epoxy) the screws if need be, just have not done this yet.

With the lack of full instructions, I figured I had something missing. How could I put the new mount on the legs and use the new center pole when the mount has no center hole.

LOL! now I know better, you get a center pole mount and a low angle mount. There are actually 2 one with a hole and one without, oh duh!

I was not about to start dismanteling my tripod when I had no clue as to what to do about the mount without a center hole.

If the instructions were more detailed explaining all the parts, I would not have hesitated, but this thread has enlightened me. At least I can say I actually learned something today.

Oh, I got two allen wrenches that fit on my legs when I originally got the tripod.
