I have a friend living here in the US who will be staying with a friend living in Rome for the month of January. He is going to buy his host a D70s body as a gift. Should he buy it in the states and take it with him or purchase it in Rome?

Anyone know the current price for the body only in Rome and how would the warranty differ purchased here in the US versus the warranty if purchased in Rome?
Thanks ..... Bruce

Hi Bruce!
Very hard ... warranty: three Years, but only for resident.

Documentation: only in Italian. To obtaine English pdf version You need registration to Nikoneuro.com ... very complicate to learning thread of a lot of laws, copyrigth translation and printing ... and many more.
Bodies are buy ONLY BOXED SEALED, first pay it, after try it.
List price extract:

Maximum rebate 5% ... only for friends of friends of mother of friend of brother of the Pope .... normal for us ...

The box contain Compact Flash 512 MB SanDisk or medium brands, and an excellent book "Fotografia Digitale" (Digital Photography) by Giuseppe Maio, very "guru", with a DVD to explain use of D70s completely. Sorry, ONLY IN ITALIAN.

Is possible IVA local tax to rebate (20% of base price) , but customs ofiice queue ... burocratic problems ...
Net prices: Rebate from store about 900 Euros (no dute free ...)

dute free price (International Airport FCO Rome) Full 949 Euros, when You exit from Italy, customs rebate IVA (TVA corresponding) about 791 Euros,
about 688 USA$ at current change rate (1 Euro = 1.15 USA$).
Excuse my English. I hope this help. Notice me.
When You in Italy, Im very happy to address good store.
Best regards
Luigi

P.S.: Attention to intnl price commas and dot ... do You know?

Greetings Luigi!

Just trying to get some advice for a friend who lives here in the US. He will be in Rome for the month of January staying in a friends home. He would like to give this person a D70s body as a gift.

Should he buy it in the US ( with US warranty ) and bring it with him or purchase it Rome?

What is the current price for the body in Rome and which dealer would you recommend?

Does it make a difference as far as the warranty is concerned?

Thank you so very much! Bruce
